Jasper man dies in
north Cherokee crash

Cherokee Sheriff’s deputies
responded to a two-car, in
jury accident Wednesday
morning at approximately 7
a.m. on Interstate 575 just
north of Riverstone Park
way in Canton.
A Kia Sportage, driven
by Kierra Holder, 24, of
Forest Park, struck a Toyota
Tacoma from behind, driven
by Robert Schroeder, 61 of
Jasper, causing both vehi
cles to lose control and
strike the guard rail. After
striking the guard rail, both
vehicles ended up on their
sides. Schroeder was
ejected from the Tacoma.
Both drivers and a passen
ger in the Kia, Samira
Bryant, 23, of Riverdale,
were transported to Wellstar
Kennestone Hospital.
Schroeder later died from
his injuries.
Witnesses reported the
Kia was traveling erratically
prior to the collision. The
accident is being investi
gated by the Cherokee Sher
iff’s Office Traffic
Enforcement Unit. No
charges have been filed at
this time.

Ely got emotional as he
spoke about a donation that
will benefit homeless veter
ans when it sells.
“Vets get out of service
and they are plagued with is
sues, PTSD, depression, so
many things and they end up
in terrible situations,” he
said. “They need support.”
The motorhome is a 2003
Winnebago Brave with two
slides, priced at $23,900. The
purchase price is tax de
ductible.
“And this vehicle is in ex
cellent, excellent condition,”
Ely said.

Lindenmayer, director of the
Cherokee County Homeless
Veterans Program. All pro
ceeds from the sale will go to
fund that 501(c) 19 organiza
tion. Their mission is to sup
port “homeless veterans in
Cherokee County and help
with food, limited housing,
clothing, claims, home of
record and other support.”
The Cherokee County Homeless Veterans Program has
teamed up with Jasper RV to sell this Class 3 motorhome.
Jim Lindenmayer, director of the organization pictured
here, donated the vehicle. Proceeds from its sale will go to
support homeless vets.
