Larry Young
Larry Robert Young, 71,
of Canton, Georgia, passed
away Tuesday, December 1,
2020 at Piedmont Mountain
side Hospital.
He was bom June 15,
1949 to Raliegh and Eula
Young in Jasper, Georgia.
Larry grew up in Daw-
sonville and graduated from
Dawson County High School
and then from Georgia Tech.
He was a member of Free
Hope Baptist Church. He
loved Blue Grass Music and
played several instruments
but he most enjoyed spend
ing time with family.
Larry is survived by his
beloved wife of 39 years,
Joni Young of Canton and
their precious daughter, Eliz
abeth Anne Gurr of Dun-
woody. Also surviving is his
sister, Ruth Markham of
Braselton; brother, Jerry
Young of Georgia; sister-in-
law, Mary Young of Daw-
sonville; niece, Becky Young
of Dawsonville; nephew,
Bobby Young of Donal-
sonville; mother-in-law and
father-in-law, Roger and
Faye Rich of Tate; sister-in-
law and brother-in-law, Judy
and Tommy Greer of Court-
land, Alabama. Several
friends also survive. He was
preceded in death by his
brother, Jack Young and son-
in-law, Ryan Gurr.
A graveside service was
held at 3 p.m., Saturday, De
cember 5, 2020 at Free Hope
Baptist Church Cemetery
with Reverend Grant Wade
and Reverend Johnny
McPherson officiating.

in honor of Larry.

Robert
Mailer nee
Robert Eugene Mallemee,
89, of Jasper, Georgia, passed
away Wednesday, December
2, 2020 at Wildwood Health
Care.
He was bom September 5,
1931 to Rusk Bing and Eliz
abeth Mallernee in Cadiz,
Ohio. He was an Elder at
Etowah River Church of
Christ.
Mr. Mallemee is survived
by his sons and daughters-in,
Dwight and Dianne
Mallernee of Blue Ridge,
Greg and Betty Mack
Mallernee of Gumming; sis
ter, Marlene Mallernee of
Duluth, Minnesota; brother,
Kenneth Mallemee of Cadiz,
Ohio; three grandchildren;
and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by
his wife, Dolores Katherine
Mallemee.
Due to COVID-19, a cel
ebration of life will be
planned for a future date.

Carl Gaddis Jr.
Carl E. Gaddis, Jr., 77,
was born November 5, 1943
in Cherokee County to and
Laura Bell Colley and Carl E.
Gaddis, Sr., formerly of Pick
ens County. Carl died of
COVID-19 on December 1,
2020 a very short time after
being diagnosed with having
this vims. He had spent his
career years in federal service
at IRS as a trainer all across
the U.S. He retired and re
turned to Pickens County to
live in the late 80s.
His survivors are his only
living immediate family
members; his sister, Nina
Harbour; his nephews,
Ronald K. Norton (Annette)
of Gumming, Dirone C. Nor
ton (Katrinka) of Canton;
niece, Tiana F. Bishop
(Lennie) of Jasper. Other
local family members who
provided help and comfort to
Carl were Jeremiah Norton
(Misty), Charlotte Bruce,
Nick, Rocky (Sherry)
Bishop, and Bianca Brown
all of Jasper.
A graveside service was
held at 11 a.m., Saturday, De
cember 5, 2020 at Long
Swamp Baptist Church
Cemetery.
The family requests that in
lieu of flowers, memorial do
nations be made to the
Alzheimer's Association in
honor of Carl.

Greg Chaney
Greg Chaney, 71 of
Sereven died Tuesday, March
3, 2020. The California na
tive had lived in Wayne
County the past six years.
The retired carpenter loved to
farm, woodworking, trips to
the beach to surf and all kinds
of animals. He was prede
ceased by his wife, Mae
Chaney; parents, Silas and
Marie Chaney; brother, Mike
Chaney; and stepson, Marty
McTaggart;
Survivors are two sisters,
Joan and Cathy Chaney, both
of California; brother, John
Chaney of California; step
daughters, Sonya Lanier and
Karen Mire; four grandchil
dren; three great-grandchil
dren; two great-great
grandchildren; extended fam
ily, Terrell Cash, Jordan
Cash, Greg Cash, Wendy
Cash and April Lockey
Floyd; and several nieces and
nephews.
Memorial services were
held by the family at 2 p.m.
on Sunday, December 13,
2020 at Pleasant Hill Chris
tian Church with Kasey

Jewel Childers, 92, of
Canton, GA passed away
Sunday, November 29, 2020
at Northside Hospital Chero
kee. She was a member of
Burnt Mountain Baptist
Church in Pickens County.
Funeral services are
scheduled for 2 p.m., on
Wednesday, December 9,
2020, from the Salem Baptist
Church with Rev. Jason
Phillips officiating. Interment
will follow at Salem Baptist
Church Cemetery.
She was preceded in death
by her husband, Eugene
Childers and her son, Frank
Childers.
Survivors include her son,
Johnny Childers; daughter,
Diane (James) Morris; grand
children, William Childers,
Michael Morris, Matthew
and Tammy Morris, Crystal
and Corky Ingalls, Colt and
Lisa Childers, Miranda and
Shane Townley; great-grand

Bo Boling
On Thursday November
26, 2020, Dewey Levoy
“Bo” Boling loving husband,
father and papa passed away
at the age of 83.
A service of Celebration
of Bo’s life will be held at a
later time. Bo was born May
1937 in the foothills of the
Blue Ridge mountains in
Tate, Ga. He grew up in Ma
rietta, GA and graduated
from Osborne High School in
1955. He married Margie
Swanson in June 1963. He
began his career in the Air
National Guard at Dobbins
AFB and then went on to
own and operate American
Auto Paint and Body Shop
for 30 years.
He was a member of the
Ga Freemasons. He loved
gardening, hunting, building
hot rod cars and working
hard for his family.
He was preceded in death by
his parents Emory and Eva
Boling as well as his brother
Lamar Boling.
Survivors include his wife
of 57 years, Margie S. Bol
ing; daughter, Paige Allen
(Aubrey); son, Chad Boling
and five grandchildren, Tate,
Ben, Adeline, Alexis and
Amy.
A service will be held at a

Larry Ray
James Larry Ray, age 74,
of Nelson, Georgia, passed
away Sunday, December 6,
2020 at Northside Hospital
Cherokee. A Pickens County
native, he was bom April 24,
1946 to Henry and Frances
Ray.
Larry proudly joined the
United States Marine Corp,
then received an honorable
discharge for medical issues.
Larry worked for Lockheed
before landing the position of
District Manager over Sport
ing Goods K Mart Southeast
Division. Larry and his
brother, Ronnie, started "R &
R" in the early 80s, then split
to R & R Towing and R & R
Bodyshop as the business
grew. He held several posi
tions with Pickens County
government before running
for and being elected as Chief
Magistrate Judge of Pickens
County where he served citi
zens for 20 years until his re
tirement in 2011. After
retirement, he was elected
Mayor of the City ofNelson
for a couple of terms and then
entered into full retirement.
Larry was preceded in
death by his mom, Frances
Ray; dad, Henry Ray; wife,
Brenda Chastain Ray; and
sister, Patsy Howard.
He is survived by his
daughter, LaSandra Cooley
ofNelson; son and daughter-
in-law, Jason and Nicole Ray
of Jasper; grandchildren,
Justin and Tracy Thacker of
McDonough, Samantha and
Josh Wilson of Talking Rock,
Kevin and Danielle Cooley
of Talking Rock, Jeremy
Cooley of Hudson, Michi
gan, Andrew and Alyssa Ray
of Jasper, Kyle Ray of Jasper,
Hunter Weldy of Jasper, Sara
Beth Hall of Jasper. Several
great-grandchildren also sur
vive.
Larry was well known and
respected in the community
as a caring man that would
do whatever he could for
anyone.
Larry has spent the last
few years fishing, boating,
traveling and spending time
with his children, grandchil
dren, and great-grandchil
dren. He will be deeply
missed.
A graveside service will
be held at 11 a.m., Friday,
December 11, 2020 at Sun
rise Memorial Gardens with
Reverend Harold Cantrell of
ficiating.
The family will be receiv

Home, Thursday, December
10 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
