Vote at polling place election day
Voters at the early voting location at the Pickens Recreation Center on Monday, Dec. 28.

Tuesday, Jan. 5 will bring a long and
heated election cycle to an end when
voters will go to their regular polling
place for the final day of voting in Geor
gia’s runoff election.
The election pits Republican incum
bents David perdue and Kelly Loeffler
against Democratic candidates Jon Os-
soff and Raphael Wamock in races that
will decide control of the U.S. Senate.
Republican Public Service Commis
sioner Lauren “Bubba” McDonald also
faces Democrat Daniel Blackman.
Locally, voting during the final week
of early voting saw longer lines at the
Pickens Recreation Center. Pickens
Elections Supervisor Julianne Roberts
attributed the increased wait times to
sick poll workers that forced them re
duce their number of check-in stations
from two to one.
Roberts reported no incidents at the
early voting location in terms of protest
ers, arguments, or any other issues.
“Things have gone pretty well,” she
said.
Voters will visit their regular polling
place on Tuesday, Jan. 5 from 7 a.m. to
7 p.m.
