Joan Ward
Joan E. Ward went to her
heavenly home on December
28, 2020. She was one of
three daughters bom to Otis
and Mary Priest in Atlanta.
She loved knowledge and
was constantly taking classes
and studying new things.
Among her favorite memo
ries was a European trip to
Switzerland, Germany, Aus
tria and Liechtenstein and a
cruise to Alaska when she got
to see the glaciers and ride in
a dog sled.
She particularly prized her
private pilots license secured
after an arduous period of
studying and practicing. She
was a member of The Flying
Rebels and enjoyed many
trips to Kentucky; Florida;
the Georgia Coast; Disney
World; Pennsylvania (Read
ing Air Show); Washington,
D.C.; Williamsburg, Virginia;
and many other locales.
She thought Bent Tree
was the greatest place in the
world with all of the wildlife,
greenery, and fantastic views.
She sold real estate in
Bent Tree and held her bro
kers license she earned along
the way.
She enjoyed helping peo
ple secure their favorite
home. She will be missed by
many associates and friends.
She loved to laugh and had a
very unique laugh.
She was a longtime mem
ber of the Jasper Lions Club
and was honored by the club
as a Melvin Jones Fellow in
2005. She enjoyed participat
ing in the Lions Club Fill-A-
Stocking (gifts for kids at
Christmas), Fourth of July
celebration and parade, Hal
loween celebration and
haunted house and all of the
service activities of the Lions
Club.
She is survived by her sis
ter, Rita of Thomaston;
daughter, Hope Schobak
(James) of Buford; a son,
Kevin of Braselton and her
husband of almost 47 years,
David at home in Bent Tree.
A memorial service will
be held at a later date. A
memoriam in her name to the
First Baptist Church of Jasper
(198 S. Church Street; Jasper,
Georgia 30143) will be
greatly appreciated.

Mrs. Martha Laverne
Gaskins, 82, of Jasper, GA,
passed away Friday, January
1, 2021, at her home.
She was a long time mem
ber of the First Baptist
Church of Jasper. She en
joyed cooking, sewing, cro
cheting, gardening,
volunteering and traveling.
She adored her family and
friends who saw her as a giv
ing, selfless person with a
kind and gentle soul.
Martha is survived by her
husband of 63 years, Earl
Gaskins of Jasper; daughters
and son-in-laws, Cindy and
Joe Miller of China Grove,
NC, Terri and Greg Smith of
Jasper, GA; sister, Catherine
Hilbert of Nashville, GA;
grandchildren, Joseph Miller
of Chicago, IL, Andrew and
Elizabeth Miller of Holly
Springs, NC, Kristina Miller
of China Grove, NC; great
grandchildren, Hayden and
Auden Miller of Holly
Springs, NC.
She is preceded in death
by her parents Vascom M.
Connell and Thelma Myers
Connell of Nashville, GA.

held Tuesday, January 5 at 2
p.m. with Rev. Preston Jones
officiating. Interment was at
Lake Forest Memorial Park
following the funeral service.

Kenneth Jarrett
Kenneth James Jarrett, 40,
of Marble Hill, passed away
on December 28th, 2020 in
Ellijay.
Kenneth was bom in
Jasper, Ga, to Brenda Diane
Jarrett on August 8th, 1980.
He married Darlene Jarrett on
May 8th, 2013, in Jasper, Ga.
He worked as a welder at
North Ga. Millwright.
Kenneth is preceded in
death by his mother, Brenda
Jarrett Pitts; grandparents,
Ronnie and Betty Jarrett; and
brother, Tony Jarrett.
Kenneth is survived by his
wife, Darlene; children,
Katelynn Jarrett Winters,
Haley Jarrett; step-children,
Scott Smith and his wife
Shaina Smith, Jake Darby;
grandchild, Payzlee Winters;
step-grandchildren, Tucker
Smith, Lucas Darby, Tyler

Reba Isaac
Reba Elizabeth Isaac, 97,
of Sumter, S.C., passed away
Friday, January 1, 2021.
Mrs. Isaac was born
March 29, 1923, in Mc-
Caysville to the late John
Messer Callihan and the late
Corina Ethel Hawkins Calli
han. She was a lifelong resi
dent of Fannin County until
moving to Sumter to live, and
was a loving, dedicated wife
and mother. Reba is preceded
in death by her husband,
Joseph John Isaac.
Survivors include her
sons, Johnny Mark Arp, Gary
Dale Isaac and Joseph
Michael Scott Isaac; daugh
ter, Shawna Jo Isaac; grand
children, Mark and Michael
Arp, Malanna Massey, Rich

Helon is survived by her
