Letters to the Editor
To the Editor:
Riot Responsibility —
Trump did not incite the cap
ital riot. But when it hap
pened he failed to take
immediate forceful steps to
stop it. His words were not
wise words and he should not
have said them but they do
not rise to the legal definition
of incitement.
What happened at our
Capitol was terrible and that
riot should have never been
allowed no matter how ag
grieved the so called
Trumpers were. What they
did was very bad. The only
thing that saved the Capitol
from destruction and our
Congress from death was that
the rioters refrained. They
were incompetent, thank
God, or their true intentions
were only to mess the place
up and cause a stir.
But the Capitol riot ex
poses that the broad leader
ship of the US government is
incompetent. The fault lies
higher up than the leaders of
the Capitol police. President
Trump should have immedi
ately reacted as the com
mander in chief and sent
needed reinforcements.
Pelosi and McDonnell are di
rectly responsible for the se
curity of the Congress. They
should both resign. Our own
Mr. Wray from Georgia,
who is director of the FBI,
should resign for failure to
anticipate and clearly warn of
this.
In some larger sense we
all should hang our heads.
For at least 50 years we have
taught people that there are
no severe consequences for a
riot. People riot, loot, bum,
and maim just about every
week in our country and
nothing is really done. What
we need are a few old fash
ioned Texas Rangers with
pump shotguns with permis
sion to clear streets with buck
shot in the event of a riot of
any kind. After fair warning,
violent, deadly, and over
whelming force will stop
these events cold.
But we lack the will to
keep the peace, and because
we lack the will, more riot vi
olence is what we will get.
The Capitol riot is but an
other event in a long sad
commentary on the lack of
leadership.

To the Editor:
Unity
I’m walking my dog
on a cold Saturday morning
snow hitting my face
bringing serenity to my soul.
Yet I hear sounds drifting
like windmills
in my mind.
Of anger, yelling, break
ing
that I see and hear.
The destruction that comes
easy
when used by a mob.
It's easy to express rage
From what I see.
The dizzying shouting of
truth
and disinformation
All mixed in.
But I wonder, are we lis
tening
to what is occurring under
neath
the common man
Who loses ground every year.
I hear a plea for help
A woman
who has lost her job.
Because it was shipped over
seas.
No food to eat.
The cupboards are bare.
Those who drift with no
place
to lay their head.
The black man who suf
fers
latent inequities
That comes from racism.
Yes, racism is alive and well.
A heartfelt misunder
standing
of a changing America.
Precipitated by the media
That plants seeds of discon
tent
To increase its market share.
Unintended consequences
of Capitalism.
The wealthy can prosper
more
From globalization than you
or me.
All have means and connec
tions.
Bringing the rise of inequal
ity of possibility
to those who do not under
stand their lot.
What can we do, you say?
The question is so hard to an
swer.
Yet an answer still echoes
from long ago.
Said by a man
Wiser than me
Sent from above.
Love your neighbor as
yourself.
Help increase his opportunity
to work,
if you can.
Help him enjoy
the fruits of his labor in the
end.
There are three lasting
things:
Faith, hope, and love
And the greatest of these is
love.
Yes, the answer is right in
front of us
Love your neighbor, your
coworker, your enemies.
Accept a person as he is
Not what you think he should
be.
Everyone is different in
bearing their beliefs.
The glue is love.
Love will help those
who are poor in spirit
Love will help those
who are hungry and in need
Love will lead
to help a needy neighbor.
Love will help those
who can't understand
why a neighbor cannot find
meaningful work.
And will help them as much
as they can.
Love will help
in all these things and
will bring peace
in these troubled times;
if we practice it
unity will begin.

To the Editor:
We want to express our
appreciation to the parents of
the 34 pets who purchased
low cost spay/neuter certifi
cates (Saturday). We will
have another low cost certifi
cate sale in early spring.
Spread the word and together
we can help reduce any un
wanted or homeless pets.
Top reasons to spay and
neuter your pets: 1. No un
planned or unwanted litters
of kittens or puppies; 2.
Helps prevent reproductive
organ diseases like cancer
and pyrometra; 3. Helps cur
tail messy “marking” in the
house; 4. Neutered animals
tend to stay closer to home -
less likely to roam; 5. May
help curb aggressive behav
ior - such as fighting; 6.
Helps prevent pet overpopu
lation and the number of pets
in shelters.

To the Editor:
I’m so excited - seems my
government is going to send
me yet another “Economic
Stimulus” check. This is
money the federal govern
ment will send to us taxpay
ers. The government gets this
money from the taxpayers, so
in essence the government is
giving us back our money -
but only a smidgen of it.
The purpose of giving us
money is for us to spend it on
a new, large TV, thus stimu
lating the economy. One
might think this only stimu
lates the economy of China,
but then that’s nit-picking.
My advice on spending this
money:
If you spend your check at
Walmart, the money goes to
China or Sri-Lanka; if you
purchase a new computer, the
money goes to India, Taiwan,
or China; spend it on gaso
line, it goes to the Arabs; if
you purchase fruits and veg
etables, the money ends up in
Mexico or Guatemala; buy
an efficient new car, Japan or
Korea gets the bucks. Pay off
your credit cards or invest in
stocks, the money goes to ex
ecutives bonuses and they
hide it offshore.
My advice: keep the
money in America by spend
ing it at yard sales, going to a
ball game, make a date with
an “escort,” buy lots of beer,
get a tattoo, these are the only
American businesses still op
erating in the U.S. The an
swer of what to do is obvious
: Go to a ball game with a tat
tooed “escort” that you met at
a yard sale, and drink beer all
day. No need to thank me,
just glad to help.

To the Editor:
I’m the nice Christian lady
that two people got out of
their car to tell me that I was
in the wrong lane and I didn’t
wait my turn at the drive-thru
at McDonalds last week.
Several people were in the
first lane. I went on around to
the outside lane.
One man in the first lane
blew his horn at me then
pulled up beside me, wanting
me to roll my window down
so he could tell me what for.

I just smiled and gave him a
thumbs up.
Then a young lady “in
front” of me got out of her
truck and was very animated
telling me I was supposed to
wait in the first lane like
everyone else. She asked me
if I thought I was smarter
than everyone else there? I
said ‘by no means.’ I saw she
was the only one in the outer
lane, so I got in behind her.
She went back to her truck
and sat there shaking her fin
ger at me. I just kept smiling
at her. She gets out of her
truck again still very ani
mated.
I finally rolled my win
dow up and got on my phone
making my oncologist ap
pointment. I could hear her
telling about what I had done
to both windows at McDon
alds.
Then on later in the week
I am back at McDonalds be
cause I love the place.
Now, they have a tall sign
standing up way before you
get up to order that says “Any
Lane Any Time” and also
have tall cones put up to
where you can’t jump from
the 1st lane to the outer lane.
I was so pleased to see these
put up.
My hope is those two
young folks that just had to
make a scene by jumping
onto a 65-year-old like me.
Please take heed and keep
your opinion to yourself if
you don’t know what you are
talking about. I very well
could have been someone
with a temper and not been
very nice to you.
Be careful from now on
who you jump onto because
someone, somewhere will
jump back. I, on the other
hand, let God fight my bat
tles. Maybe you should too.
Hope both of you have
learned a very good lesson.
God bless you.
