Continued: Minister’s Comer
revolt, conceiving and utter
ing from the heart words of
falsehood. Justice is turned
back, and righteousness
stands afar off; for truth is
fallen in the street, and equity
cannot enter. -NKJV
Are you a believer in Jesus as
the Son of God? In John,
Jesus instructed the Jews
who had believed in Him to
obey or continue in His
teachings. By doing this,
they would be able to access
the power that is contained in
the truth of God’s Word.
After coming to faith in
Christ, did you notice that
life seemed to be more diffi
cult in some respects?
There’s a valid reason why
this happens to new converts
who place their faith in
God’s Word and strive to live
it every day. When we grab
hold of the truths of God
from scripture, the enemy
persecutes us because of the
Word’s sake. Consequently,
we will encounter problems
and adverse situations as we
strive to obey the teachings
of Christ.
Instead of giving up on
our faith because of the prob
lems we encounter after we
set out to obey God’s Word,
we need to train ourselves to
fight. It has been said that
anything worth having is
worth fighting for. This is
certainly true concerning our
faith in Christ and His teach
ings.
Think of all the promises,
which become benefits and
blessings that invade our life
after we have set our heart to
obey the truth. America has
been the most blessed nation
in history because its
founders saw the importance
of scripture. People through
out our history have sacri
ficed out of obedience to
God to see His blessing and
favor to be lavished upon us.
Two of the benefits that
are mentioned in the pas
sages that I’ve shared today
are liberty and justice. Since
we have chosen as a nation to
uphold and obey scripture for
generations in America, God
has allowed us to have these
two benefits as a part of our
rich heritage.
However, you’ve probably
noticed that our nation has
gotten further from God and
the principles in scripture.
Justice and liberty in Amer
ica are under heavy assault.
Many of our leaders are try
ing to impose on certain
rights and liberties.
As Isaiah prophesied,
when a person or a nation
turns their backs on the truth
of God, their actions will
cause justice to turn back.
Have you seen a time when
our nation and freedom have
been so heavily attacked by
the forces of darkness?
America desperately needs to
turn back to God and once
again affirm, to the forces of
darkness and the world, that
God’s truth is the only way.
We must fight for the truth of
God to be allowed in our af
fairs as a nation, as much as
we desire to fight for justice
and liberty.
Every good and perfect gift
comes from God. My prayer
is that God will grant Amer
ica the opportunity to repent
and turn away from our sins,
so that He can save our na
tion. Let us take a stand for
the truth of God until we see
God’s hand at work in our
beloved nation again.

Gartrell on Braves roster for 2021
field. Who will get the cen-
terfield job though and who
is a backup/bench guy?
The Braves retained
Ender Inciarte whose defense
is superb, but he has not hit
his weight in the better part
of three seasons. Rookie
Christian Pache joined the
playoff roster last fall and ap
pears destined to stay with
the big club either as a starter
or platoon mate with Inciarte.
Still on the roster is Abraham
Almonte, but Atlanta could
upgrade offensively by re
signing Adam Duvall or
signing a veteran free agent
like Yasiel Puig or Brett
Gardner. If unexpectedly the
NL reinstates the designated
hitter again in 2021 a slot
which Ozuna would fill,
signing any of those three
guys would make the Braves
as balanced and potent as any
lineup in baseball.
Finally, Atlanta’s infield
looks great, but what if a
starter gets hurt? Johan Ca-
margo and Jack Mayfield
stand as the only options.
They might be fine for a
short time at second or third
base, but do you want either
of them at shortstop? Unfor
tunately, there’s not much of
a selection on the free agent
market. If the worst happens,
expect a quick trade to shore
up shortstop.
Yes, the Braves head into
2021 as a playoff contender
yet again. They are strong of
fensively and defensively but
a little more depth couldn’t
hurt. Therefore, expect gen
eral manager Alex An-
thopoulos to add a few more
pieces before the regular sea
son opens on the first day of
April.

the hump and leave victorious. The final

top.
This week Pickens will welcome the
Lady Bruins to Jasper for a rematch of
