Helen DeGolier
Helen E. DeGolier, 77, of
Jasper passed away Thursday
January 14th, 2021 at her
home.
Helen was bom January
20th, 1943 to the late Robert
Rugar and Elizabeth "Betty"
Rugar.
She left behind her hus
band Carl E. DeGolier whom
she was married to for almost
57 years, as well as her three
children: son, Michael De
Golier of Jasper, and two
daughters, Denise Whitehill
(Tim) of Talking Rock and
Denielle Walls (Joseph) of
Arab, Alabama; five grand
children, Mackenzie De
Golier or Jasper, Kacidie
Jones (Titus) of Canton,
Shelby Whitehill of Talking
Rock, Case Walls and Kip
Walls of Arab, Alabama; one
great-grandchild, Sawyer
Jones; another great-grand
child arriving early April.
She also left behind three sis
ters, Yvonne Link (Gary) of
Brighton, Michigan, Lorraine
Kibler (Joe) of Lockport,
New York Jackie Hill
(Roger) of N. Chili, New
York and many sister-in-
laws, brother-in-laws, nieces
and nephews.
Helen was a member of
Shiloh Baptist Church, Jasper
and she was a pharmacy
clerk at Big B Drugs and
CVS in Jasper for many
years.
She is already missed so
much by her family.
A celebration of life is
planned for the summer.
Randy Gravley
Randy Gravley, 62, of
Jasper, passed away Wednes
day, February 10, 2021 at
Piedmont Mountainside Hos
pital.
Funeral services were
held at 2 p.m. on Sunday,
February 14, 2021 at Gospel
Outreach Church with Pastor
Jerry Stewart officiating. In
terment followed in Lake
Forest Memorial Park Ceme
tery.
Mr. Gravley was a mem
ber of Gospel Outreach
Church. He enjoyed playing
softball, dirt track racing at
Dixie Speedway and watch
ing sports, especially base
ball. Randy loved his family
and spending time with his
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death
by his mother, Mary Louise
Effie Jackson and father,
Reuben Clayton Gravley.
Randy is survived by his
wife, Mary Alice Gravley;
children, Brandy Buchanan
(Michael), Dewayne Grav
ley, Wendy Gravley and April
Howard (Kevin); sisters,
Faye Welchel (Tony), Bar
bara Samples (Tony), Sarah
Aaron (Charles), Diane
Gravley and Samantha Eng
land; brothers, Larry Gravley
(Brenda), Michael Gravley
and Joshua Gravley; seven
grandchildren and six great
grandchildren.

Jean McFarland, 80, of
Canton, GA passed away Fri
day, February 12, 2021.
Funeral services were
held at 2 p.m., on Monday,
February 15, 2021, from the
Mt. Calvary Baptist Church
with Rev. Nathan Smith, Rev.
Clinton Poole and Rev.
Wayne Wright officiating. In
terment followed at Chal-
cedonia Baptist Church
Cemetery.
She was preceded in death
by her parents, Ben and
Bessie Dupree; brothers,
Charlie, J. T., Jack, Henry,
Joe and Mark Dupree
Survivors include her

(Greg) Dunagan; grandchil

Marilyn May
August 3, 1936-
February 11, 2021

Marilyn Arlen May was
bom at Crawford Long Hos
pital in Atlanta on August 3,
1936 to Louise Cecilia White
May and Joseph Edwin May.
She grew up on Francis
Street near Atlantic Steel
where her father was an engi
neer.
On the day of her gradua
tion from O'Keefe High
School, Marilyn was
awarded a full scholarship to
Emory University where she
was one of the first group of
nine women admitted into
Emory.
Following her love of lit
erature, Marilyn taught high
school English in the Atlanta
School System and was
beloved by her students. In
1963, the year book of South
western High School was
dedicated to her by the stu
dents.
Marilyn obtained two
masters degrees from Geor
gia State University while
teaching full time, one in Ed
ucation and one in Special
Education.
Following her teaching
career, Marilyn became the
Resource Teacher for Area
Three of the Atlanta School
System, allowing her to share
her experience and expertise
with other teachers.
After retiring from the At
lanta School System after 30
years, Marilyn went on to be
come the principal for North
Metro Psycho Ed School, a
school for troubled children.
During her tenure, Marilyn
was able, along with Rep.
Mary Margaret Oliver, to
have the school relocated
from a delapidated building
to a better facility on the
northside of Atlanta.
Beginning in 1985, Mari
lyn shared her life with her
spouse, Glenna L. Stone. To
gether, they traveled to New
York, enjoying friends and
the theater, and to California
and Maine. Loving the
beach, they spent many vaca
tions on Jekyll, St. Simons,
and St. George Islands, al
ways accompanied by their
Scottish Terriers.
Marilyn fought dementia
for over 10 years before suc
cumbing to its ravages on
February 11, 2021.
Strong in her faith, Mari
lyn became a member of the
Episcopal Church of the
Holy Family in Jasper, Geor
gia following her and
Glenna's move to Ellijay,
Georgia in 2007. In 2017, she
and Glenna also completed
the four year Education for
the Ministry curriculum of
fered by the School of Theol
ogy of the University of the
South in Sewanee, Ten
nessee. Marilyn was gracious
and caring. Even during her
last illness, Marilyn always
asked her caregivers if they
were okay.
Marilyn was preceded in
death by her sister, Sarah
Catherine Lester and her
nephew James Lester, Jr. She
is survived by Glenna L.
Stone and her nephew Joseph
Reid Lester and his family, as
well as a large group of lov
ing friends.
Due to Covid 19, no pub
lic service will be held. In
lieu of flowers, please con
sider a donation to the
Alzheimers Association or
the Episcopal Church of the
Holy Family.
Rob Parker
Robert Parker, Rob as
known by friends, passed
away Friday evening, Febru
ary 12,2021, at Piedmont
Mountainside Hospital.
Rob is survived by his
son, Robert Parker, Jr. and
daughter-in-law, Holly
Parker; grandson, Declan
Parker; mother, Martha Whit-
sel; father, R.L. Parker; sis
ters, Angela Bujak, Kim
Mitchell; and good friend,
Judy Parker.
There will be a memorial
for Rob when the weather is
warmer and his wish can be
fulfilled to spread his ashes in
the mountains.

Mr. William Earl “Will”
Rogers, II, 60, of Fairmount,
Georgia, departed this life,
Saturday, February 13, 2021
at the Wellstar Cobb Austell
Hospital in Austell, Georgia.
Will was bom October 6,
1960 in Kingston, Pennsylva
nia. He was a 1979 graduate
of Chartiers Valley High
School in Bridgeville, PA,
and earned a degree as a ma
chinist at Parkway West Ca
reer and Technology Center
in Oakdale, PA.
Will was an avid out-
doorsman. He loved hunting,
camping, hiking and any
thing outdoors. He had rather
be in the woods than in a
group of people. He was very
proud of being an Eagle
Scout.
He was preceded in death
by his mother, Theresa Flo
rence Qualtiere Rogers and
two beloved pet dogs, Buddy
and Augi Dog.
He is survived by his lov
ing wife, Linda Porter Rogers
of the residence; son,
William Travis Rogers of
Dahlonega, GA; father, Dean
William Rogers of Pittsburg,
PA; sisters, Mary Jo Rogers
of Pittsburg, PA, Cindy
Rogers and Steve Ellis of
Norman, OK; brothers, Dean
and Kirsten of Bridgeville,

February 15, 2021 at her
home.
Wanda was bom June 26,
1949 in Taylorsville, Geor
gia, a daughter of the late
Jasper Asbery “Jack” and Lu
cille Bryant Jacobs. She was
also preceded in death by her
daughter, Teresa Devore.
She is survived by her
son, Jamie Henson; sisters,
Jackie Hightower and Faye
Callahan of all of Fairmount,
GA; brothers, Charles and
Ruby Jacobs of Centre, AL,
and Ray Jacobs of Cassville,
GA; aunt, Virginia Seymour
of Double Springs, AL; sev

life of Ms. Wanda Devore
will be Saturday evening,
February 20, 2021 at 7 p.m.

will follow at the Cassville
Cemetery in Bartow County,
Georgia.

Mr. Floyd "Bird Man"
Reed, 79, of Jasper, passed
away Monday, February 8,
2021 at West Cobb Hospital.
Floyd was known by most
everyone as "The Bird Man"
and famous for his business
called Bluebird Real Estate,
where he made unique bird
houses as well as many other
items.
Mr. Reed is survived by
his wife, Karen Reed of
Jasper; sons and daughters-
in-law, Roy & Janie Reed of
Jonesburg, MO, Scott &
Tammy Reed of Jasper, and
Ricky & Gina Reed of Ore
gon; daughter and son-in-
law, Tina & Rodney Farris of
