Who would ever think
that five women with five
strong personalities meeting
for one hour could be so
funny? The ladies planning
The Aurelia Women’s League
Flower and Garden Show
Gala are different in many
ways. The seemingly
strongest personality is the
chairperson, Clarinda, who
insists Robert's Rules of
Order be followed and starts
pushing her ideas on the oth
ers. Just when things are get
ting crazy, refreshments are
served. The food is great and
the punch is even better.
What happens next is
pure entertainment. Will you
end up loving or hating
Clarinda? Do the others get
their say in the planning?
Will everyone be happy with
the results?

Thrift Store
needs volunteers
The Community Thrift
Store, on Samaritan Drive,
has reopened. Unfortunately,
with a volunteer force seri
ously depleted, they will not
be able to help load the larger
items at the store.
They are seeking new vol
unteers. “If you have some
free time and would like to be
a part of helping the charities
in this county please consider
volunteering,” the leaders at
the 20-year-old establishment
ask.
They could use people
with as little as four hours to
spare.
You’ll be blessed to be
part of something that has
given millions of dollars back
to the Pickens community.
For more information call

Cacio e Pepe
An Italian classic that means “cheese
and pepper” only has six ingredients -
but simple doesn’t mean it’s not deli
cious, that’s why it’s a classic.
12 ounces spaghetti
4 Tbsp. unsalted butter, at room temper
ature
1 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
2/3 cup grated Pecorino Romano cheese
(or Parmigiano Reggiano to substitute)
Kosher salt and freshly ground black
pepper, to taste
Bring a large pot of salted water to a
boil. Add the spaghetti and cook until
just al dente, 8 to 10 minutes.
While the pasta cooks, mash the soft
butter with the olive oil and Pecorino in
a large bowl to form a paste.
When the pasta is cooked, reserve 1/2
cup of the pasta cooking water and drain
the spaghetti. Add the spaghetti directly
to the bowl with the butter mixture. Toss
well to coat, adding the pasta water as
needed to make a thick, creamy sauce
that coats the pasta strands. Season to
taste with salt and lots of freshly ground
black pepper. Divide the pasta among
four plates; serve immediately.
