Philip Ferrara
Philip John Ferrara, son of
the late Anthony John Ferrara
and Julietta Bonsanti Ferrara,
bom February 2, 1937 in
Boston, MA, aged 84, was
ushered into heaven on Mon
day, February 22, 2021 from
Jasper, GA.
He was a believer in Jesus
of Nazareth and is waiting in
glory for his wife of 61 years,
Elizabeth Starbuck Adams
Ferrara. They were married
in the summer of 1959, and
honeymooned in the family
cabin in northern Vermont,
where many family vacations
were spent. Their first son
arrived the following sum
mer, followed by a daughter
two years later. When child
number three, another son,
arrived in 1966, they thought
their family was complete -
however, a surprise baby boy
arrived in 1973.
Phil and Betsy raised their
children in Wilmington,
Delaware; Orlando, Florida;
Richmond, Indiana; Toledo,
Ohio; and McDermott, Ohio.
They settled in a cabin in the
mountains of Jasper, Georgia
for their retirement years.
Phil earned his Bachelor
degree in agriculture at the
University of Delaware in
1958. He was a United
States Air Force Veteran,
avid gardener, sage of wis
dom and rambling, seem
ingly pointless stories, and
lifelong student of history,
science and anything nature.
He was a faithful member of
Our Lady of Lourdes in
Otway, Ohio for over 40
years.
His legacy of children,
grandchildren and great
grandchildren will forever re
member him as the best
possible Grandpa who lived
with the awe and enthusiasm
of a child. Grandpa was al
ways pointing - that’s why
we know which trees make
the best maple syrup or walk
ing/hockey sticks, which
mushrooms are edible, where
to find flowers you can boil
to make tea for headaches,
what kind of critters live in
streams and forests, how to
tell a plant by its leaves and a
bird by its feathers, and how
to uncover trilobites hidden
in stone beneath our feet.
From early morning blue
berry pancakes, to 5 PM
cocktails, to late night flash
light tag, Grandpa could al
ways be found playing with
the children, or entertaining
the adults. He was always
ready for a new adventure.
Philip is survived by his
sisters Madeline (and Dick)
Chubbs and Joan Ferrara. He
was the father of William
(and Darla) Ferrara, Julie
(and Robert) Klusty, Anthony
(and Selma) Ferrara, and
Nick (and Becky) Ferrara.
He faithfully inspired his
grandchildren, Emily, Adam,
Erik, Elizabeth, Sarah, Timo
thy, Erin, Darcy, Joe, Car
rington, Alyson, Big
Anthony, Philip, Savanna,
Little Anthony, Daewin, and
Meghan towards Christian
principles and values. His
great-grandchildren, Olivia,
Aiden, Parker, Zaeda, Jude,
Ayvee, William, Macaulay,
Luca, Roland Anthony, Scar
lett, and Lennon were blessed
to know their Great
Grandpa. We all look for
ward to the joyous reunion in
heaven, when cocktail hour
will last forever.
The family will celebrate
the life of Philip John Ferrara
in a memorial party to be
held at a TBD date later this
spring.
Please take the time to lis

they declare the great hope in
