Mr. Cecil Fann of Tate and Mr. Fred
Green of Ball Ground, who will take
over the business at once. The Jasper
Dry Cleaners are doing good work and
enjoying a nice business.
- The Nunally & McCrea Company started on a three day
schedule this week. Many factories are unable to secure the
necessary cloth because of the shortage of materials. The
shortage of materials is attributed to an effort of the textile
mills to get a price adjustment from the OPA. Nunnally &
McCrea are anxious to resume full time operations and
hope adjustments will be made soon so piece goods will be
available.

Tabor House Museum in Ellijay
offers unique history of area
Not far from Jasper, just
up the road north into Ellijay
is the location of the 1870
Tabor House Civil War and
History Museum. The mu
seum, closed for the winter,
will reopen March 18. The
hours of operation are Thurs
days, Fridays and the first
Saturday of the month from
11-4 p.m. The Tabor House
is the oldest house in Ellijay,
dating from 1870.
When you enter the mu
seum you are greeted by one
of the tour guides that will
take you through the Chero
kee Room, Victorian parlor,
Civil War and War rooms and
the children’s rooms. Tours
are given by donation.
Just recently, the museum
was given a 1880’s parlor
pump organ that originally
belonged to Victoria Harper
in Ellijay given to her as a
bride. The museum was also
given a Civil War rifle.
Not many people know
that the largest gold nugget
came from the Whitepath
mine in Ellijay, weighing 5
lbs. Another interesting fact
is that Ellijay was home to
the youngest Civil War sol
dier (on both sides) who was
David Bailey Freeman, age
11. He served all four years.
Now, that the COVID 19
pandemic is nearing an end,
we look forward to having
both public and Christian
schools come back for field
trips. We also bring field trips
to the schools with different
museum pieces. We welcome
clubs or organizations to
come for a private tour by
calling the museum at 706-
276-1861. The address of the
Tabor House is 138 Spring
Street, Ellijay, Ga. 30540

METAL ROOFING
Seven tips to improve
your family’s dental
health

(StatePoint) Is it time to
hit “reset” and start over with
fresh dental habits? Doing so
can help improve your
health.
“Your oral and overall
health are connected — and
even small improvements in
your oral health routine can
have big payoffs in your
overall well-being,” Dr.
Ruchi Sahota, American
Dental Association (ADA)
spokesperson
To help you get started,
the ADA offers seven recom
mendations for improving
your family’s dental health
routine:
1. Brush twice a day for two
minutes each time using flu
oride toothpaste and a soft-
bristled brush. Place the
brush at a 45-degree angle to
the gums. Gently move the
brush back and forth in tooth
wide strokes. Brush the outer,
inner and chewing surfaces
of the teeth. To clean the in
side surfaces of the front
teeth, tilt the brush vertically
and make up-and-down
strokes. Parents should in
struct kids to do the same.
2. Clean between teeth daily
using only interdental clean
ers, such as floss or water
flossers, to reduce the risk of
cavities and gum disease.
3. Eat a nutritious diet. Sug
ary foods and snacks can lead
to tooth decay. On the other
hand, calcium- and phospho
rous-rich foods protect and
strengthen tooth enamel.
Fruits and vegetables are also
good choices for a healthy
smile since they have high
water and fiber content,
which help clean teeth.
4. Schedule regular dental
visits for prevention and
treatment of oral disease. Ex
perts say that your family can
have safe dental visits, even
during the COVID-19 pan
demic.
Early in 2020, the ADA
used science to develop guid
ance for dentists on extra
steps they can take to help
protect patients and staff, in
addition to the infection con
trol procedures they’ve al
ways followed. According to
a report published in the
“Journal of the American
Dental Association” in Octo
ber, 2020, 99 percent of den
tists are using enhanced
infection control procedures
and disinfection practices
when treating patients.
5. Look for the ADA Seal of
Acceptance. Every product
carrying the Seal has been
evaluated by independent ex
perts to be safe and effective.
To earn the Seal, companies
are often asked to meet
higher standards than what’s
required by law. Look for
specific Seal bullets on the
back of every Seal product
package to find out how they
can help keep your mouth
healthy.
6. Think twice if you’re con
sidering DIY dental treat
ments. Some such fads, like
oil pulling, are just not effec
tive. Others, such as whiten
ing with charcoal, could even
cause damage. Before taking
matters into your own hands,
talk with your dentist to learn
about the potential risks and
benefits of each treatment.
“A dentist’s office is a safe
place where a doctor is ensur
ing you’re getting quality
care that will actually treat
the root of your problem,”
says Dr. Sahota.
7. Ditch bad habits that can
harm oral health, like nail-
biting, clenching your jaw,
chewing ice and using your
teeth as a stand-in for tools
like scissors.
