Letters to the Editor
To the Editor:
First let me say that I’ve
been reading and enjoying
the Progress since I moved
back to Pickens County in
1965. In all that time I have
never seen a letter to the edi
tor that was so mean and dis
respectful as the one written
by Keith Petty bashing Rush
Limbaugh a few days after
his death. I’m very surprised
that you would print such
trash.
As you probably know,
your readership is probably
75 percent Republican and,
like me, some of them may
decide not to read your paper
anymore.
Over the years Rush Lim
baugh has raised and donated
millions and millions of dol
lars to various veterans or
ganizations and especially
the Wounded Warrior Pro
gram.
John Carver
To the Editor:
After the Supreme Court
justices betrayed their vows
to the US Constitution and to
our posterity, the children,
and President Nixon did not
invoke the Constitution to
stop the treason of the court
and stop their murder of the
children, Georgia governors
and American presidents
failed to invoke the Constitu
tion to stop the slaughter of
the children.
After watching the deaths
of Georgia children by abor
tion for 20 years, instead of
invoking the US Constitution
to stop the slaughter, Gover
nor Zell Miller instead legal
ized the state lottery out of
being a puppet to the Demo
crat party and its growing
anti-Americanism and its
dedication to the vices help
ing the merchants addict and
kill American children with
legal alcohol for money.
Love for the children of
the state had died in the
Georgia Republican and De
mocrat parties and the gover
nor and legislature they
controlled also chose to de
stroy the children when the
political parties told them to
kill.
Zell Miller tried to remove
the Georgia flag against the
will of the people but failed.
A puppet of the Democrat
party and the interstate anti-
American groups that con
trolled it, he and the Black
mayor of Atlanta banned the
state flag on their own from
the AD 1996 Atlanta
Olympics. Governor Zell
Miller trying to dictate the re
moval of the state flag, took
a young black boy into the
office of the Speaker of the
House Tom Murphy, and
said, "Do you want this boy
to look at that flag?" He
never asked Murphy if he
wanted the boy to look at the
children in caskets killed by
the alcohol Miller and the
liquor merchants were legal
izing.
He never said did he want
the boy to look at the trash
cans aborted bodies were
thrown into. If you ever saw
little heads sticking out of a
trash can, you could see the
real Miller, the real Clinton,
and the real mayor of Atlanta.
Today the Georgia gover
nor, lieutenant governor, and
the Georgia legislature can
look at the dead children in
the caskets killed by legal al
cohol. They can look at the
heads of aborted children
thrown into trash cans. They
can easily he and break their
vows they swore to defend
the Constitution and the pos
terity and let the slaughter go
on because they have no love
for the people and children of
Georgia nor to the Constitu
tion to which they pledged
their swords of honor.

Georgia House passes sedation
protections for patients
By Dave Williams
Bureau Chief
Capitol Beat News Service
Atlanta - Legislation
adding new protections for
patients being sedated for
certain medical and dental
procedures in outpatient set
tings cleared the Georgia
House of Representatives
Monday.
The bill, which passed the
House 160-5, requires the
Georgia Composite Medical
Board to establish regulations
for administering sedation to
patients by the end of this
year. The regulations would
cover such subjects as proper
equipment and training, sep
aration of surgical and seda
tion monitoring functions
during procedures and care
and transfer protocols in case
of an emergency.
The legislation excludes
licensed dentists, registered
nurse anesthetists and physi
cian assistants who have
completed an anesthesiolo
gist assistant program.
One section of the bill
adds new language in state
law defining “medispas,” fa
cilities that offer outpatient
cosmetic surgery including
liposuction, laser procedures
and injection of cosmetic-fill
ing agents.
The bill originated in the
state Senate, where it passed
unanimously last month. It
was introduced by Sen. Kay
Kirkpatrick, R-Marietta.
The legislation was car
ried in the House by Rep. Lee
Hawkins, R-Gainesville. Be
cause of changes the House
Health and Human Services
Committee made to the bill,
it must return to the Senate to
gain final passage.

The jonquils are out
The jonquils have been making a vibrant yellow show of spring for weeks, and folks
have been stopping by Joy Morrow’s yard on Chambers Street to take photos. Morrow said
this large patch of jonquils came up on their own just outside her door a few weeks ago
and she figured since so many passerbys were interested, putting them in the paper for
everyone to enjoy seemed like the thing to do.
