Young Life’s first clay shoot draws 70
Pickens County Young
Life held their first annual
sporting clays shoot on Fri
day, April 16. Over 70 people
came to Garland Mountain
Sporting Clays to participate
in this event to raise hinds for
the mission of Young Life in
our community.
The staff and committee
would like to thank all who
participated and volunteered
their time to help at the event.

PCREA President
The Pickens County Retired Educa
tors Association (PCREA) held its April
meeting on Wednesday, April 14th via
Zoom. We were privileged to have as
our guest speakers Pickens County
Sheriff Donnie Craig and financial ad
visor, Peter Lynch, from Henssler Fi
nancial in Kennesaw.
On March 31st representatives from
PCREA delivered gift cards to Wild
wood Health Care Center in Ludville to
help with Easter celebrations for the res
idents.
On March 31st PCREA honored all
Pickens County Teachers of the Year by
delivering to each of them an Outstand
ing Educator Award in recognition of
their exceptional service in the educa
tion profession.
Certificates were awarded to
Stephanie Grisham, Harmony ES; Abby
Tippens, Hill City ES; Jessica Bryan,
Tate ES; Eileen Steinhauer, Jasper Mid
dle School; Laurie Guelcher, Pickens Jr.
HS; Carrie Stephens, Pickens High
School. Congratulations to each of these
outstanding teachers.
The new PCREA Executive Slate for
2021-2022 was announced as the fol
lowing: Eve Sauer, president; Tanya
Akins, president-elect; Angela Babcock,
secretary; Debbie Hunter, treasurer;
Cyndy Buscher.
The final meeting of PCREA will be
May 12th, and we will be meeting for
the first time this year “in-person.” The
meeting will take place at the recreation
center and seating is limited to 32 peo
ple.

do not have to be a retired educator to
join our group, but if you enjoy commu
nity service, education and/or children,
