73, of Talking Rock passed
away Saturday May 1, 2021
at his home. He was born

Jasper.
He is survived by his
brother and sister-in-law,
J.C. and Eldie Cornett of
Jasper, sister Eva Denney of
Jasper, sister-in-law Mary
Cornett of Anderson South
Carolina, sister and brother-
in-law Trina and Ricky Bol
ing of Talking Rock, brother
and sister-in-law, Terry and
Diane Thomason of Jasper,
sister and brother-in-law,
Susan and James Young of
Talking Rock, Special
nephew Tyler Boling of
Talking Rock, several
nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in
death by his wife Cynthia
Diane Cornett.
The family will be re
ceiving friends at Roper Fu
neral Home and Crematory
on Wednesday May 5, 2021
from 9 a.m. until the funeral
hour.
Funeral services will be
held Wednesday, May 5,
2021 in the Roper Funeral
Home Chapel at 11 a.m.
with Reverend Jess Posey
officiating. Interment will
follow on Sunrise Memorial
Gardens.

Young, Tony Young, J.C.
Cornett, Gary Waters and
Winfred Cornett.

Denney
Reginald James Denney,
85, of Jasper, passed away
Sunday, May 2, 2021 at his
home. He was born August
9, 1935 to Benjamin Farist
and Jaffie Denney in Ball
Ground.
He is survived by his
wife Eva Denney of Jasper,
sister, and brother-in-law,
Eldie and J.C. Cornett of
Jasper and brother Douglas
Denney of Talladega Ala
bama, and a host of nieces
and nephews.
The family will be re
ceiving friends on Wednes
day May 5, 2021 from 9
a.m. until the funeral hour.
Funeral services will be
held Wednesday, May 5,
2021 in The Roper Funeral
Home Chapel at 3 p.m. with
Reverend Tim McFarland,
Reverend William Faucett,
Reverend Jeremey Mullinax
and Reverend Junior Mc-
Taggart officiating. Inter
ment will follow at
Philadelphia Baptist Church
Cemetery.

Mrs. Cheryl King, 64, of
Jasper, passed away Friday,
April 30, 2021 at her resi
dence.
Mrs. King is survived by
her husband, Michael King
of Jasper; son and daughter-
in-law, Michael Daniel &
Tracey Ann King of Jasper;
daughter and son-in-law,
Cheryl & Nicholas Burkhart
of Roswell; daughter-in-
law, Angela King of How
ell, MI; brother, Daniel
Wolff of CA; grandchildren,
Tyler Silver, Anna Belle Lee
King. Michael Aiden King,
and Nicholas Estel King;
several nieces and nephews.
Cheryl is preceded in
death by her sister, Michelle
Subra.
Visitation will be Thurs
day, May 6 from 9 a.m. until
9 p.m., and Friday, May 7
from 9 a.m. until the funeral
hour.
Funeral services will be
held at 11 a.m. Friday, May
7, 2021 at the Chapel of
Cagle Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Sun
rise Memorial Gardens fol
lowing the funeral service.

Saturday, May 1 started
out chilly but warmer
weather was to come. Byrdi
was our youngest vendor this
Saturday selling her yummy
muffins and lemonade, and
Zach sold out of his herbs
and greens by 9 a.m. Tony
with Bake Works brought his
yummy baked goods and
sold out fast to very many
hungry customers. The mar
ket was full, 50 vendors to be
exact, which filled the park
ing lot with arts and crafts
and vegetable plants.
It’s back with her real
flower Jewelry and Red Bean
Coffee Roaster was selling
out quick of their delicious
coffee and hot chocolate.

sale this Saturday, See Ad

Beta Eta Chapter of Delta
Kappa Gamma had a fun and
educational visit with Sonia
Chapman, Elementary Agri
cultural instructor at Hill City
Elementary School for the
April in person and virtual
meeting. She is the only in
structor in the state certified
in both elementary and agri
cultural education. The group
toured her state-of-the-art
classroom, equipped with hy
droponic stands and grow
light trays.
Ms. Chapman then con
tinued her presentation out
side on a tour of her gardens,
livestock pens, and the pond
area she has personally de
veloped in her short time at
the school. For her outstand
ing work at Hill City Ele
mentary, she has been
granted the National Wildlife
Habitat Award. Pickens
County is very fortunate to
have Sonia and her program
to educate all of us in the
value of first-rate farming
practices. Beta Eta is the
local chapter of Delta Kappa
Gamma International, an
honor society for women in
education.
