The Professional Women of Pickens County
(PWPC), a program under the Pickens Chamber,
is a forum for working women to support one an
other in all aspects of their busy lives. PWPC’s
focus is to introduce extraordinary women to one
another and help them utilize their unique talents
in connecting each other to individuals that will
help them springboard their businesses to the next
level.
As the same as many other organizations in
Pickens County and around the world, PWPC was
not able to host the in-person networking lunch
eons since March of last year until just recently.
The first networking meeting this year was hosted
virtually on March 4 with iTHINK Financial
sponsoring the program Financial Planning for
Your Future. For the 2021 year the series of pro
grams with guest speakers will revolve around
“planning for your future.”
On May 6, PWPC held their networking
luncheon meeting in-person with the program
being Flealthy Planning for Your Future. The pro
gram sponsor was Reinhardt University and the
guest speaker was Kimberly Parker, an assistant
professor with Reinhardt’s Cauble School of
Nursing. She touched on pandemic burden and
aspects of accepting the reality, recognizing the
struggle, and finding our way to recovery, to
gether.
Networking meetings are open to all and it is
not required to be a chamber member to attend.
The next meeting will be July 8. For more infor
mation about attending contact the Chamber of
fice at 706-692-5600 or e-mail Sheri at
scrowe@pickensprogressonline.com.

Another very busy Farmers
Market graced with great weather
and happy hearts made the shop
ping fun for the customers today.
From Corinne’s Cookies to Miss
Piggy’s pork skins and around
again. There is such a wonderful
choice of tasty treats for humans
and pooches.
Add to that, with all the won
derful creativity at our market
there are many choices of decora
tions, useful and artful, like cut
ting boards, bowls, jewelry,
inspirational signs and paintings.
Sewers and knitters make the
aprons, bags, glass holders, and
shawls. There are so many
choices they can’t all be listed.
We had a special gallery on
wheels roll in. Cuckoo clocks, the
likes you haven’t seen. Wonderful
creativity at it’s best, these
cuckoo clocks featured beautiful
patterns and colors, plus one is a
total farm theme. (Jenny’s fa
vorite). The new vendor, Jodie
Davis & Mark Rowell, really had
the customers talking.
Come see the market. Shop
the market. Stroll the market. It’s
well worth the visit and don’t for
get the veggies. Our garden
growers are offering garlic and
greens and all things in between.
The Farmers Market is spon
sored by the Master Gardeners of
Pickens County each Saturday
morning, 7:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. The
