Motor Oil
Motor oil runs through Tony Parks’ veins. From the time
he was big enough to play with cars and trucks he wanted to
play working on them. As he grew bigger, the toys grew big
ger, too, and still he wanted to work on them.
The first vehicle he had was a truck and he started right
away working on it and other cars and trucks. While in high
school he went to Pickens Tech and G.D. Mosley was his in
structor. G.D. was always very complimentary of his work
and thought he might seek that type of work to make his liv
ing. He, like all of us, tried many types of work and finally
started on sales work and made that his career. He ran a route
with Lay’s Potato Chips. He worked mighty hard but was
very successful in sales work, but he still did work on cars.
Tony married Cindy and together they had two boys. Both
the boys like working on cars also. Anthony chose a career
in computer work, which he really enjoys doing, but he still
enjoys working on cars. Devon still worked with cars al
though he did a lot of other types of work. He attended Pick
ens Tech but then went with other types of work to make a
living. Like his dad and brother, they all still like to work on
cars with Devon working with several large dealerships.
Now, I’ve often said that he could build a car - if the parts
were laid out before him - he could build a car from the
ground up. Devon now is an instructor at Chattahoochee
Tech. Like I said before, motor oil still flows in their veins.
The main thing is to find some type of work that you enjoy
and work will always be a pleasure.
Enjoy your work. Enjoy life.
