Marilyn Vyonne Quinton,
84, of Jasper, Georgia passed
away Saturday, May 29,
2021 at her home. Marilyn
was born September 15,1936
to Jeff and Corrie Cantrell in
Tate, Georgia.
Marilyn is survived by her
husband, Don Quinton;
daughter, Donna Holt and her
husband Phil; son, Jeff Quin
ton and his wife Penny; sis
ter, Rosalyn Poole; sister,
Helen Bannister; grandchild,
Gavin Bacchus and his wife,
Michelle; grandchild, Han
nah Benick and her husband,
Jason; grandchild, Ashley
Holt; grandchild, Jesse Quin
ton; great-grandchild, Syd
ney Leahy; great-grandchild,
Lexie Benich; great-grand
child, Tanner Hall; great
grandchild, Shannon Leahy;
great-grandchild, Ariel
Leahy.
Funeral services will be
held at 2 p.m., Wednesday,
June 2, 2021 at Talking Rock
Baptist Church with Rev
erend Buck Parker and Rev
erend Steven Hicks
officiating. Interment will
follow in the Talking Rock
Baptist Church Cemetery.

Home from 9 a.m. until 1:30
p.m. on Wednesday.

James "Jimmy" Alfred
Roper, 72, of Waleska,
passed away Thursday, May
27, 2021 at his home. He was
bom July 15, 1948 to Samuel
and Flossie Roper in Canton,
Georgia.
Jimmy is survived by sons
and daughters-in-law,
Michael and Tammy Roper
of Jasper, Chris and Linda
Roper of Waleska; daughter
and son-in-law, Lisa and Lee
Stewart of Armuchee; grand
children, Tyler and Jordan
Brooks of Jasper, Breana
Brooks of Jasper, Emily
Roper of Waleska, Matthew
Roper of Waleska, Olivia
Stewart of Armuchee; sister,
Nettie Ruth Gravitt of
Waleska; sister and brother-
in-law, Burlen and Vernon
Chaffin of Cumming. Sev
eral nieces, nephews, and
other relatives also survive.
He was preceded in death
by his wife, Cheryl Faye
Roper and his parents,
Samuel and Flossie Roper.
Funeral services were
held at 11 a.m., Tuesday,
June 1, 2021 at the Chapel of
Roper Funeral Home with
Reverend Phillip Taylor and
Reverend Jerry Johnson offi
ciating. Interment followed at
1:30 p.m. at Georgia National
Cemetery in Canton, Geor
gia.

Virlyn Taylor

May 24, 2021
Mr. Virlyn Ralph Taylor,
92, passed away Monday,
May 24, 2021, at his home in
DeFuniak Springs, Florida
surrounded by his family. He
was bom November 20, 1928
in Ringgold, Georgia to
James Calvin Taylor and
Thursie Jane Darnell Taylor.
Mr. Taylor was preceded in
death by his parents; infant
daughter, Patricia Lynn Tay
lor; brothers, Charlie Taylor,
Carl Taylor, Earl Taylor,
Arthur Taylor, Bill Taylor,
Johnny Taylor; and sister,
Gladys Brediger.
Mr. Taylor is survived by
the love of his life, his wife
of 71 years, Mildred Louise
Bennett Taylor, whom he
married April 19, 1950 in
Jasper, Georgia. He is also
survived by brothers and sis-
ters-in-law, Robert and
Ruthalee Taylor, Raymond
and Ruth Taylor, Barney and
Patsy Taylor, all of Jasper,
Georgia; his children, Pamela
Taylor Harrison and husband
Eddie, Steve Virlyn Taylor
and wife Michelle, Danny
Herbert Taylor and wife Con
nie; grandchildren, Tina Har
rison Martin and husband
Tommy, Sheila Harrison
Carter and husband Timmy,
Mariah Ruth Taylor Nelson
and husband Spencer, Logan
Ethan Taylor and wife Mal
lory; step-granddaughter,
Erika Rice; great-grandchil
dren, Brittany Nicole Robert
son, Hailey Brooke Carter,
Lauren Jade Carter; step-
great grandson, Taylor Mar
tin. Several nieces, nephews,

vive.
A private graveside serv
ice will be held at a later date
at Cross Roads Baptist
Church Cemetery in Jasper,
Georgia 30143.

Jody H. Goode, 56, of
Jasper, passed away
Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at
Piedmont Mountainside Hos
pital. She was born Decem
ber 13, 1964 to Fay and
Shirley Howard in Canton,
Georgia.
Jody is survived by her
husband, Terry Goode of
Jasper; daughter, Misty Col
lett of Jasper; father, Fay
Howard of Jasper; brothers,
Charles Howard, Wendell
Howard of Marble Hill;
grandchildren, Tristian Col
lett, and Isabella Collett.
Several other relatives also
survive. She was preceded in
death by her daughter, Tonya
Renee Goode.
Funeral services were
held at 2 p.m., Friday, May
28, 202lin the Chapel of
Roper Funeral Home. Inter
ment followed at Lake Forest
Memorial Park.

Harold Barm ore
Harold Eugene Barmore,
86, of Jasper, Georgia passed
away Monday, May 24,
2021. A memorial service
was held at 2 p.m. on Friday,
May 28, 2021 at West Cobb
Funeral Home and Crema
tory in Marietta with Rev.
Ben Mock officiating. Inter
ment followed at Kennesaw
Memorial Park in Marietta.
A native and lifelong resi
dent of Marietta, Mr. Bar-
more moved to Jasper, GA in
2003. He was a veteran of the
United States Army with 2
years of service. He retired
from the Cobb County Board
of Education as a Audio-Vi
sual Technician after 25 years
of employment. Mr. Barmore
was a member of Mt. Zion
Baptist Church in Jasper, and
enjoyed carpentry and work
ing in his yard.
Survivors include his wife
of 63 years, Yvonne Bar
more; two daughters, Debbie
Perdue, LaGrange, GA and
Teresa Gooden, Jasper, GA;
grandson, Eric Daniel John
son, LaGrange, GA.

Hoyt Keener
Mr. Hoyt Keener, 93, of
Fainnount, Georgia, departed
this life Wednesday morning,
May 26, 2021 at his home.
Hoyt was bom April 10, 1928
in Gilmer County, Georgia,
(Round Top) a son of the late
Charlie Clifford and Rosie
White Keener. He was also
preceded in death by his lov
ing wife, Betty Lou Johnson
Keener whom he married
October 26, 1957 and died,
November 22, 2018, his only
child, Michael Hoyt Keener
who died May 6, 2008, his
brothers, Tom Keener, Alf
Keener and Harley Keener,
his sisters, Bessie Mae Teal,
Clara Bell Smith, Beatrice
Davis, Connie Clark, Lillian
Barton, Dorothy Burgess,
Alvie Mullinax and Janett
Keener.
Hoyt was a 50 year plus
member of the Morning Star
Masonic Lodge #349 in Fair-
mount, Georgia. He attended
Grace Baptist Church.
He is survived by his
daughter-in-law, Deborah
Keener Hartman of Jasper,
GA; nieces and nephews,
Cindy and Gary ‘■‘Mongo”
Ingle of Calhoun, GA, John
Gibson, Jimmy David both of
Fairmount, GA, Michelle and
Robert Vines of Conyers,

Ms. Jackie Birchall Lamy,
72, of Jasper, passed away
May 16, 2021 at Piedmont
Mountainside Hospital.
Ms. Lamy was born in At
lanta, GA, February 16,
1949. She grew up in
Milledgeville, GA where she
graduated from Baldwin
County High School. She at
tended Florida State Univer
sity where she was a member
of the synchronized swim
ming team. She then trans
ferred to the University of
Georgia where she graduated
with a Bachelor's Degree.
She furthered her education
by obtaining a Master's in ed
ucation from Armstrong At
lantic University. Jackie
taught special education for
30 years. Most of her years in
education were spent teach
ing in Savannah Chatham
Public County Schools. After
moving to the mountains of
Jasper, GA she began teach
ing as a special education
teacher and retired from
Cherokee County School
District.
Jackie is preceded in death
by her father, John Henry
"Jack" Birchall; mother, Eve
lyn DeFors; and her husband,
Richard Dennis Lamy Jr.
Jackie is survived by her
daughter, Meredith Smith of
Jasper; stepson & stepdaugh
ter in law, Richard Kiley and
Tania Lamy; two stepgrand-
children, Kiley and Reagan
Lamy.
Also surviving are brother
and sister in law, Gary and
Terry Birchall of Wilming
ton, NC; nephew, John Bir
chall and wife Malissa, and
their son Brian, and nephew
Brian Birchall of
Cartersville, GA.
Jackie loved to spend time
with her family, watch Uni
versity of Georgia football,
shop, and plant flowers. She
also enjoyed and was grateful
for the views of the water
from her house in Savannah
and the views of the moun
tains from her house in
Jasper. She was compassion
ate, giving and loving.
