Corner
ing things. Since we can’t
produce life, but can only
plant seeds that produce, we
must realize that we came
from the Giver of life, God!
Life on the earth is exactly
the way God intended it to be
from the genesis of creation.
Before God breathed life into
man’s nostrils, he was noth
ing more than compressed
dust.
Even though I have writ
ten these statements to estab
lish that creation is a fact and
evolution is a theory, many
will choose to disregard
them. Just as God is the Orig
inator of life and living
things, He is also the Origi
nator of Truth.
When Jesus was brought
before Pilate to be judged
and condemned, Pilate asked
Jesus what truth was. If you
read the entire chapter, you
will notice that Jesus didn’t
take the time to explain Truth
to him. If someone doesn’t
recognize or receive the truth
when it is spoken, they won’t
be willing to accept the ex
planation of Truth when it is
given.
Do you believe the Bible
is God’s absolute Truth given
to mankind? If you’re not ab
solutely certain that it is
Truth, ask the Lord to reveal
His Truth to you. There’s a
reason why some do not rec
ognize Truth when it is given
to them. God’s Word is Spir
itual, and no one can grasp
Truth with human logic or
thought. When God speaks to
humans by His Spirit, His
Word bypasses our mind and
deals directly with our heart.
Since God’s Word speaks
to our heart, we must be will
ing to exercise faith in God
so that we are able to com
prehend Truth. If you strug
gle to believe that the Bible
is God’s Truth, consider
using your faith to believe
that God is real. If you will
place your faith and trust in
God, He will give you spiri
tual understanding to receive
His Truth. You then will
know Truth without any
doubt.
God invites us in Psalm
34 : 8 to taste and see that the
Lord is good. If you’ve never
tasted of an orange, you can’t
possibly comprehend what it
is like. The best way to know
that God is real, and His
Word is Truth is to experi
ence Him with your heart.
Go ahead, give God a try!

Williams on taking better photos
Here my friend Eddie Woodall with a redfish. Nothing artistic but the photo is close
enough to see the subject’s face and the fish. And here Eddie has kept his cap on, but
there is plenty of light to see his face.
• Sunrises and sunsets
are great topics and it’s
hard to go wrong. The thing
you should do is put a recog
nizable shape of someone on
the trip in the photo. Make it
a silhouette if you like, just
get your friend or family in
there. Put the silhouette in
a corner with the sunrise or
sunset in the center of the top
half. This is not hard to do.
I can’t say I’m an expert at
all. Maybe 10% of my pho
tos are correctly accom
plished, but we can all do
better.

June 20 -
June 26
June 20th:
On this day in 2006, the
Miami Heat became NBA
champions for the first time.
Miami climbed out of a
two-game hole to defeat
Dirk Nowitzki and the Dal
las Mavericks, 95-92, and
win the series in six games.
Dwyane Wade, who regis
tered a game-high 36 points
with 10 assists, was named
the Most Valuable Player.
Miami also got double-dou
bles from Udonis Haslem,
who finished with 17 points
and 10 rebounds, and An
toine Walker, who logged
14 points with 11 boards.
June 21st:
On this day in 1964,
Philadelphia Phillies
pitcher, Jim Bunning, be
came the first hurler in fran
chise history to throw a
perfect game. This accom
plishment took place in the
opening contest of a dou
bleheader with the New
York Mets, where Bunning
struck out 10 batters. He
also added a two-run RBI-
double in the sixth inning of
Philadelphia’s 6-0 win.
June 22nd:
On this day in 1983, the
National Hockey League
established a brand-new
five-minute overtime period
for regular season games.
The league’s initial sudden
death practice had to be
dropped during the 1942-43
campaign because of the
travel restrictions surround
ing World War II.
Whichever team scored first
under the new procedure
won the game. However, if
nobody scored, it would
count as a tie in the stand
ings. Ties were taken away
following the introduction
of the shootout in 2005.
June 23rd:
On this day in 1981, the
longest game in profes
sional baseball history fi
nally reached its
conclusion. It was an Inter
national League encounter
between the Pawtucket Red
Sox and Rochester Red
Wings, which originally
began on April 18th. How
ever, the game was called
after 32 frames and eight
hours and 25 minutes of
playing time. The teams
met two months later to
play the 33rd inning, which
took 18 minutes. Pawtucket
first baseman, Dave Koza,
drove in the walk-off run
and the Red Sox prevailed,
3-2. To add to the legacy,
hall of famers, Wade Boggs
and Cal Ripken, Jr., along
with 1986 ALCS MVP,
Marty Barrett, all played in
this game.
June 24th:
On this day in 1979,
Rickey Henderson made his
major league debut as the
leadoff man and starting left
fielder for the Oakland Ath
letics. Henderson’s introduc
tion took place in the first
game of a doubleheader with
the Texas Rangers. He went
two for four while getting
the first of his all-time record
1,406 stolen bases, yet the
A’s suffered a 5-1 loss.
June 25th:
On this day in 1988, Bal
timore Orioles shortstop, Cal
Ripken, Jr., took the field for
his 1,000th straight game.
Ripken went two for four
with a two-run homer in the
top of the first, but the Ori
oles were routed by the
Boston Red Sox, 10-3. “The
Iron Man’’ retired in 2001
with a major league record
2,632 consecutive games
played.
June 26th:
On this day in 1962,
Boston Red Sox pitcher, Earl
Wilson, made history by be
coming the first African
American to throw an Amer
ican League no-hitter. Wil
son posted five strikeouts
while allowing four baserun-
ners during Boston’s 2-0
shutout of the Los Angeles
Angels.
