Winnie Mitchell
Winnie S. Mitchell, 95, of
Jasper, passed away Tuesday,
October 5, 2021 at Northside
Hospital Cherokee.
Funeral services were
held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Octo
ber 10, 2021 at the Sosebee
Memorial Chapel with Rev.
Dwayne McPherson and
Rev. Phillip McPherson offi
ciating. Interment followed
in Pleasant Union Baptist
Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Mitchell was the old
est member of Pleasant
Union Baptist Church. She
enjoyed traveling, reading,
gardening and spending time
with her family.
She was preceded in death
by her husband, Luther Mc
Donald Mitchell; daughter,
Barbara Poole; parents, B.J.
and Fairie Satterfield; two
sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include her two
grandsons, Neal Poole and
Jeff Poole; brother, George
Satterfield (Bonnie); son-in-
law; Larry Poole; two sisters-
in-law, Olga Satterfield and
Doris Bradley; as well as sev
eral nieces, nephews, cousins
and many friends.
Serving as pallbearers are
Barry Satterfield, Todd Sat
terfield, Eddie Satterfield,
Stanley Satterfield, Pat
Childers and John Satterfield.

George Utiss Jr.
George Utiss Jr., 72, of
Talking Rock, Georgia
passed away Wednesday, Oc
tober 6, 2021 at Piedmont At
lanta Hospital. He was bom
July 15, 1949 to George and
Juanita Williams Utiss in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
George lived in Jesup,
Georgia from 1954 until
1964 and attended Wayne
County Schools. He then
moved to Brunswick where
he lived until 1986. He mar
ried Deborah Smith April 24,
1970 in Brunswick, Georgia.
He was a charter member of
Epworth United Methodist
Church in Jesup, Georgia;
former member of College
Place United Methodist
Church and Taylor's United
Methodist Church in
Brunswick; a 1967 graduate
of Glynn Academy; attended
Brunswick Jr. College; and
received his Georgia Funeral
Director's License in August
of 1973. He worked for Edo
Miller and Sons Funeral
Home until 1986 and then re
turned to Jesup to work at
Rinehart and Sons Funeral
Home until retirement.
He was a charter member
of Epworth United Methodist
Church and attended there
until 2009. He was a mem
ber of Ocean Lodge #214
F&AM from 1975 until
1986; Jesup Lodge #112
F&AM in Jesup until 2010
and then Pickens Star Lodge
#220 F&AM. He was a for
mer member of Marshes of
Glynn Chapter Order of the
Eastern Star 243 in
Brunswick; Member and Past
Worthy Patron of Ben Gibbs
Chapter #299 in Jesup and
current member of Marble
Hill Chapter #448 in Pickens
County, Georgia. George
was a past member of the
Georgia Funeral Directors
Association.
George and his wife, Deb
orah, were very involved in
the Classic Car Scene in the
area and together they at
tended many local and na
tional car shows. Together
they wrote articles for several
shows and the National
Street Rod Associations
Magazine, "Street Scene,"
and was a member of NSRA.
He was a long-time member
and former officer of South
Georgia Street Rods in Way-
cross, was founding member
of the Altamaha Classic
Cruisers in Wayne County.
He retired in 2009 and
moved to Talking Rock,
Georgia in Pickens County
and was a member of Jasper
United Methodist Church.
George is survived by his
wife, Deborah Smith Utiss of
Talking Rock; and several
nieces, nephews, and
cousins. He was preceded in
death by his parents, Juanita
Williams and George Utiss
Sr.
A graveside service was
held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Octo
ber 10,2021 at the Jesup City
Cemetery.

family requests memorial do
nations be made to the Ma
sonic Children's Home,
Methodist Children's Home,
or the Baptist Children's
Home.

Mary Moore
Mary Lois Moore, 98, of
Jasper, Georgia passed away
Monday, October 4, 2021 at
Grandview Health Center in
Jasper. She was born Octo
ber 28, 1922 to James and
Dora Roach in Tate, Georgia.
Mary is survived by her
son and daughter-in-law,
Leron Moore Jr. and Delores
Moore of Powder Springs;
daughters and sons-in-law,
Virginia and Terence Norman
of Marietta, Alethia Dawkins
and Dr. Reginald Dawkins of
Smithville, Virginia; grand
children, Marla Jo Moore,
Joshua Moore, Ginny Fran
cis, Terence Kellen Norman;
brother, Truman Roach;
seven great-grandchildren;
one great-great-grandchild
and many other friends and
relatives.
She was preceded in death
by her husband, Leron
Moore, Sr.; brothers, Preston
Roach, Grady Roach, and
James Franklin Roach.
Funeral services were
held at 11 a.m., Friday, Octo
ber 8, 2021 in the Chapel of

Barbara Worley, 74, of
Rockmart, Georgia passed
away Sunday, October 3,
2021 at Redmond Regional
Medical in Rome, Georgia.
She was born December 15,
1946 to Richard and Mildred
Brooks.
Barbara is survived by her
daughter and son-in-law,
Sandy and Lance Turner of
Jasper; son and daughter-in-
law, Shane and Kim McClure
of Talking Rock; son, Mark
Raven of Rockmart; son,
Ritchie McClure of
Blairsville; ten grandchil
dren; and seven great-grand
children.
A memorial service will
be planned for a later date.

Lurlene is survived by her
