nominate more than one per

Making Cards
Since my sickness started
I guess I have received a big
bag of cards. I have some of
the most beautiful ones that
you ever saw, and some so
funny I still laugh over them
just thinking about them.
I have one handmade with
angel wings made from
feathers. I used to make them
with seven cards made where
each envelope stuck down
into one big envelope. In
each one I put three jokes or
a funny story on the card.
Each day they had a laugh or
two. A group from the United
Methodist Church makes and
send beautiful cards for each
season. I put them in a place
where everyone passing my
room can enjoy looking at
them.
I love making cards my
self. I use pictures of flowers,
birds and different things cut
out from magazines and
write a short verse, fold my
paper, then decorate it with
cutouts. I have a friend who
even makes cards that fold
out and stands up. Fall of the
year has gotten here and I
have some good things to do
my cards with.
I also do lots of coloring.
I used to think it was so
funny for a grown person to
sit and color, but it passes
many hours of time to do this
coloring. I give my neighbors
out here a colored pictured
and it brightens their room.
Some are pretty enough to be
framed and I send them to
friends of mine from time to
time. I have much pleasure
making them and people do
well in acting like they like
them even if they don’t! I
have been making some real
small ones and give them to
folks who assist me each day.
They are like little reward
cards like “If looking for a
cook who beats all the rest, I
would say you are surely the
very best.” It lasts longer than
just saying the words.”
“The Pickens County
Progress gives you pleasure
all week so subscribe now
and you’ll have a great treat.”
One lady asked me, “Do
they pay you to write these
articles?” And I said, “No,
but they don’t charge me ei
ther!”
