Trinity Church to host fall celebration on Halloween
Have you heard about
what’s happening out on the
Jeep Fest field this Hal
loween? Well it might just be
the biggest Fall Fest in Pick
ens County this year.
The field is located at
8795 Highway 53, Jasper,
GA. On October 31, Trinity
Church of Marble Hill will
fill that field with inflatables,
carnival games, balloon ani
mals, crafts, face painting,
scavenger hunts, hot dogs,
popcorn, cotton candy, Kona
Ice, and lots of kid’s prizes.
All kids in attendance will
get to walk down Trunk or
Treat alley as they exit for
lots of great Halloween
candy. And it’s all free as the
church’s gift to the commu
nity.
Families in Pickens
County are invited to attend
at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October
31. Come early enough to
get parked and get to the big
tent at 2:00 for music, in
structions and a $100 give
away. The fun is geared
toward elementary age kids,
but it will be a great event for
the whole family. Inflatables
and games will be open till 5
p.m.
Trinity Church is also
partnering with the Tate Ele
mentary PTO to provide a
teacher gift basket and party
for the class with the most
students in attendance. Tate
Elementary students should
check-in at the Tate Tent to
help your teacher and class
win!
Why would Trinity
Church sponsor this event?
After nineteen months of
Covid difficulties, the church
just wanted to bless this com
munity with a fun, family-
friendly gathering.
The church will hold its
Sunday service right there at
the JeepFest field that day at
10:30 a.m. and all are invited

This year many parents
are reconsidering what Hal
loween will look like for their
family. Naturally, you
should explore what is avail
able in your own community.
Many churches and civic
groups are hosting events
across Pickens. The Food
Network staffers and viewers
offer these great suggestions.
Hold a Halloween Candy
Hunt and an Outdoor
Movie Screening
"For Halloween this year
we’re filling plastic eggs with
candy and hiding them for
the kiddos to seek and find in
the yard. Then we are setting
up a big outdoor screen and
projecting 'It’s the Great
Pumpkin, Charlie Brown 1
and passing out individual
popcorn bags and mugs of
hot cocoa for everyone."

tor at Food Network
Bake Creepy Treats and
Host a Virtual Pumpkin
Carving Contest
"This year, we are staying
in and will be baking up
some fun Halloween treats.
My thirteen-year-old is just
fine staying in, but I plan to
create a fun Halloween
treats-filled night at home for
my nine-year-old. Our plans
include baking up some
mummy and monster cup
cakes and spider web cook
ies, having a Zoom pumpkin
carving contest with our ex
tended family in Texas, Min
nesota and California, and
we'll end the night with pizza
and a movie night."
- Alice Choi, founder of
Hip Foodie Mom
Here are some other creative
suggestions from the Internet.
Halloween Scavenger Hunt
Who doesn’t love a good
scavenger hunt? Make it a
Halloween-themed hunt to
delight all of the little ghouls
in your life. There are plenty
of free templates available to
download.
You could plan a hunt in
your neighborhood, espe
cially if your neighbors are
big on Halloween and deck
out their porches and yards
with lots of Halloween deco
rations.
You could also do a candy
scavenger hunt inside your
house if it’s too chilly for an
outdoor walk.
Candy Pinata
Make your own Hal
loween pinata and fill it with
your favorite candy or buy
one at the store. Either way,
what kid doesn’t love whack
ing a pinata and watching
candy spill out? Frankly, the
grownups might enjoy
whacking that thing just as
much!
Halloween Craft Night
Make Halloween slime,
paint pumpkins, or simply
color Halloween pages. De
pending on your child’s age
and interests, crafts could
keep them busy all night.
Zoom costume party
Just because you can’t pa
rade your costumes around
the neighborhood doesn’t
mean that it has to languish in
the closet! If you have family
and friends you would like to
see dressed up, consider hav
ing a costume party via
Zoom. You can even award
prizes based on the most cre
ative, silly, or scary cos
tumes.
Tell ghost stories
When’s the last time you
sat in the dark and told scary
stories? This is one of the
easiest things to do on Hal
loween at home because it
doesn’t require any addi
tional supplies. If you don’t
know any ghost stories and
are unable to make one up,
the internet is your best
friend. For example, since it’s
in the public domain, you can
even find a complete record-

Greetings!
Happy October! I hope this letter finds you feeling good, doing well
and enjoying the season.
This time of year always reminds me of how lucky we are to live in
North Georgia, where we can enjoy all the best of Fall - the clear,
blue skies, the vibrant colors of the leaves, the comfortable temper
atures outside, hiking in the beautiful mountains.
It feels like a time for new beginnings - a time to look for possibility
and maybe even a little magic. I’m reminded of something poetW.B.
Yeats wrote,“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for
our senses to grow sharper.”
Those words fill me with hope - especially considering the challeng
ing time we’ve been going through with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Even when times are tough, there’s magic in the world. There’s al
ways something special, waiting for us to find it.
For fun, I searched “how to find magic” on the Internet, just to see
what came up. Many of the top suggestions had to do with children
- some examples were to embrace your inner child, befriend a child,
remember what you loved as a child, wonder like a child, and play.
I know that whenever I need a sense of wonder in my life, I can look
to my grandchildren. Of course, I think of them as magical beings -
but their sense of wonder and ability to be exhilarated by everyday
things is inspiring to me.Their curiosity and resilience bring the same
out in me.
I can also look to my friends, neighbors and co-workers.This region,
with its natural beauty, is magical. Our communities are magical
places, thanks to all of the incredible people who make them so.The
group of people who work together at Piedmont Mountainside cre
ate magic every day, by striving to make a positive difference in every
life they touch.
We all create magic through the kindness, care and concern for oth
ers we demonstrate every day, as we move through our lives.
Thank you for all you do to make this such a special place.
Always,
Denise Ray

In the event of rain, the
event will be rescheduled.
Check the church’s website
for those details. Kids are
welcome to wear costumes,
but that is not required to join
in the fun. A number of Pick
ens County services and min
istries will also be
represented at this event, of
fering help and hope to fam
ilies in need.
