Rep. Clyde presses President Biden
on COVID-19 standards
Last week U.S. Represen
tatives Andrew Clyde (GA-
09) and Clay Higgins
(LA-03) led 50 of their
House Republican colleagues
in a letter to President Biden
outlining the Administra
tion’s hypocritical COVID-
19 standards and demanding
a plan on how the Depart
ment of Homeland Security
(DHS) will test every mi
grant at the southern border.
“Since taking office, Pres
ident Biden has remained
idle while his self-inflicted
border crisis spirals out of
control amidst the coron-
avirus pandemic,” said
Clyde. “Over 1.6 million ille
gal migrants have been ap
prehended crossing the
border, yet contrary to the
rides for legal international
travelers, none are required
to be tested for COVID-19 or
show proof of vaccination.
This blatant double standard
flies in the face of logic and
threatens Americans’ health.
It’s time for the President to
put Americans first by imple
menting a robust strategy to
test every solitary migrant at
the southern border - any
thing less is unacceptable!”
“Individuals entering the
country illegally should not
be coddled," said Higgins.
American citizens and legal
visa holders absolutely have
a right to be treated better
than illegal aliens. The Biden
administration consistently
puts Americans last. It’s in
sane that we have a President
of the United States who lays
down for criminal cartels and
supports drug and human
trafficking while persecuting
and oppressing American cit
izens.”

On October 25, the Biden
Administration announced
new testing and vaccination
requirements for travelers en
tering the United States. Cur
rently, no such requirements
exist for migrants traveling to
the southern border. Back in
September, DHS Secretary
Alejandro Mayorkas testified
before the House Homeland
Security Committee that
DHS was working to imple
ment a testing strategy, but
Congress has not yet re
ceived such a plan.
In March, Rep. Clyde in
troduced H.R. 2076, the
“COVID-19 Border Protec
tion (CBP) Act,” which
would require the Depart
ment of Homeland Security
and Health and Human Serv
ices to administer a COVID-
19 test to anyone who
attempts to illegally cross the
border.

ATLANTA - Georgia
Gov. Brian Kemp joined Re
publican chief executives
from 14 other states Monday
in an initiative suggesting po
tential solutions to the global
supply chain issues to Presi
dent Joe Biden.
The launch of Operation
Open Roads coincided with a
roundtable on the issue
Kemp convened at the state
Capitol with private and pub
lic sector logistics experts.
In a chain letter to the
president dated Monday, the
governors chided the Biden
administration for gumming
up the free flow of commerce
with increased regulations
and rulemaking, including
imposing a COVID vaccine
mandate on private busi
nesses.
“Disruptions due to sup
ply shortage increased 638%
during the first half of 2021
for essential products, includ
ing semiconductor chips,
plastics and cardboard,” the
letter stated. “The delay of
shipping vessels arriving to
North American ports from
Asia has ballooned from 14
hours in June 2020 to 13 days
in September 2021.
“Supermarkets are receiv
ing approximately 40% of
what they order compared to
pre-pandemic fulfillments of
90%. Approximately 40% of
U.S. shipping containers pass
through West Coast ports that
sit in a logjam, and yet our
East Coast ports remain open
for business.”
During the roundtable,
Kemp cited steps to expand
cargo capacity at the Port of
Savannah and other strate
gies Georgia has undertaken
to ease the supply chain crisis
including streamlining the li
censing process for commer
cial truck drivers.
After the discussion,
Kemp suggested the federal
government work with states
to lower the eligibility age for

Biden announced last
month that the private opera
tors of the ports of Los Ange
les and Long Beach had
agreed to begin working 24
hours a day, seven days a
week to reduce the backlog
of cargo waiting at those
ports and offshore for an
chorage space.
The president also has de
fended his vaccine mandate
as a temporary measure to
keep America’s workers safe.
Governors from the fol
lowing states joined Georgia
in the Operation Open Roads
initiative: Tennessee, Ari
zona, Florida, Idaho, Iowa,
Maryland, Missouri, Mon
tana, Nebraska, North

South Carolina and Texas.
