The breeze may have been blowing, but
did not blow away the farmers market. Hardy
individuals made a decent showing at the
market despite the cold. A few blankets and
the sun kept the vendors and customers alike
hopeful for a good day.
Elizabeth Pratt of Pratt’s Art Expressions
had several interested customers in her beau
tiful artwork. Tony Whitfield of Y-Not Sharp
kept sharpening whatever tools and knives
were presented. Anna Morgan had a vintage
oar that she had painted with a nature scene
of a great blue heron gliding peacefully over
a lake. Customers expressed interest in Steve
and Becky Alexander’s (Smoky Mountain
Produce) garlic bulbs in three sizes. Now is
the time to plant garlic for next year. Steve
can explain it all. Meanwhile, garlic in savory
dishes is great anytime.
Michelle Winters of Little Miss Piggy’s,
was braving the chill to sell her crunchy, de
licious pork skins. There are several flavors
to choose from. The Pie Lady, Antonia
Guerra brought her rolling kitchen to serve
breakfast biscuit sandwiches and friend pies.
She also set up a tent with a heater and of
fered hot chocolate and coffee to grateful cus
tomers and vendors alike.
You never really know who is going to be
at the Jasper Farmers Market and there are
only a few weeks left. Please, come see who
is here next Saturday. They may have the gift
or decor of your dreams. Or perhaps the best
cupcake you ever tasted. Tony Pisconeri
brings the sourdough deliciousness you seek.

And try Roxanne Janes’ Heavenly Acres
loaves of bread for your next breakfast toast
or sandwich.
The JFM is held at Lee Newton Park in
the Park N Ride parking lot across from the
Veteran’s Memorial and is sponsored by the
Master Gardeners of Pickens County. You
can stroll the market and walk the park for
some extra fresh air. Bring the family, the
neighbors, your best furry buddy to keep you
company while you enjoy the scene at the
Jasper Farmers Market.
