Ellijay’s Tabor House museum
to hold open house Dec. 4th
With the holidays coming
why not go back into the time
of the 1870s when the Tabor
family lived in the History
and Civil War Museum that
is now the oldest house in El-
lijay. Get a taste of what it
was like at Christmas in that
time period during the holi
days. The volunteers that
give the tours of the house
now will be in the 1800s pe
riod clothes, and the house
will be visited by Civil War
soldiers (local historical reen
actors, Mike and Jonathan
Davis and Bobby Bradford
from the Sons of the Confed
eracy Camp 89 and Jason
Richards, a middle school
teacher who does Civil War
reenactments.)
You will see how the
mountain people decorated
their Christmas trees, what
music they played and enjoy
hot cider and snicker-doodle
cookies while touring the
museum. Most of the visitors
that come to the museum see
the Tabor House website and
are looking for things to do
when they visit Ellijay. Be
lieve it or not, not many lo
cals come through.
You will see that the tour
starts in the Cherokee room
to honor the people who were
here first. This was the sover
eign Cherokee Nation and, in
fact, Ellijay is a Cherokee
word. There are artifacts
there like drums, arrowheads
etc. and from there you will
go into the parlor where you
will see a 1890 pump organ
which was a gift from Jesse
Harper to his bride Victoria.
They lived on Boardtown Rd.
at the time. Upstairs is the
children’s room, a replica of
an 1870’s kitchen, the Civil
War and War room which
ACES Youth Home
motorcycle ride
a success

ACES Youth Home’s
3rd Annual Motorcycle
Ride, “Cruisin’ for the
Kids,” hit the road Novem
ber 13th to help provide
funds for foster kids cur
rently in their care. This
continues to be a staple
event that we and the com
munity look forward to. We
all had so much fun spend
ing time with those in the
community and other giv
ing hearts that showed up to
support.
The bike ride began at 1
p.m., live music played in
side while auctions, live
auctions and raffles all had
the crowd lively and ex
cited.
A local non-profit, Angel
Auctions, displayed and
sold some amazing sports
memorabilia which also
gave back a generous dona
tion to the group home.
ACES is beyond thankful
for Rocco's Pub for being
the host venue. Many
thanks to all of the Ameri
can Legion Riders Post 149
for leading the ride.
This event, Cruising for
th Kids, wouldn’t have be
successful without all of our
loyal sponsors: FRN
Restoration, Piedmont
Mountainside Hospital,
Prime Global Products,
Community Bank, The Mill
on Etowah, Master Pro
Services, Plumber Now,
Castleberry Shutters, Sun
rise Veterinary Hospital,

Also, thank you to our
donors - 89th and Autumn,
Sweet Joy, Chik-fil-A, Za-
xbys, Kline Wood Com
pany, Kendra Scott, Harley
Davidson, Dairy Queen.
Thank you donors for the
amazing raffle and silent
auction items.
We were beyond blessed
with individual donations
which we can not list all,
but you know who you are.
You all are beyond im
portant to us and the success
of this event. Thank you all
for another fun, safe and
successful Fundraiser.
Due to unfortunate cir
cumstances with the pan
demic, our winter
fundraiser “ACES Tour of
Homes” will continue next
Winter, 2023.
