Review of The Charitable Sisterhood Christmas Spectacular
By Heather Giambra
Row B, seat 14. A great
view of the Tater Patch stage.
The stage is set for an up
coming annual church event
in the town of Pennington
Gap, Virginia in 1977. Two
churches with a similar prob
lem that threatens to derail
the The Charitable Sister
hood Christmas Spectacular!
(Oh, no!)
The blue Baby Jesus has
been stolen! Who done it?
Who knows? As the ladies of
nual Christmas Spectacular
the mystery deepens as the
humor rises.
Blue? There is an explana
tion for everything. Just ask
Beatrice Littleton, the annual
show’s know-it-all director
played so succinctly by Eliz
abeth Mullis in her debut
with Tater Patch. Beatrice is
determined to get Lucille
Orton (Audrey Kirsten, Tater
Patch trooper and President)
from the rival church to con
fess to the crime. Lucille is
determined to educate the
ladies in the proper way to
not enjoy themselves.
The hilarity begins to
heighten as the days progress
toward the show date and the
show’s director redirects the
Sisters from the final goal.
Sisterhood alumni, Lor
raine Jensen (played beauti
fully by April Miller), is the
one who informs Tina Yates
and what is what as Tina
nervously discovers she is
now the Stage Manager of
the upcoming show. A job
she has never performed but
as the show date closes in,
manages to find her voice.
Enter an incredulous Janet
Murchison, (wonderfully
played by Nancy Loy) an
Honorary Sister of the Sister
hood to use her sleuthing
skills to discover the truth.
Does she find the answer in
time?
You will have to come and
see this wonderful show. It
has it all! With a radio an
nouncer, voiced by John Har
vey, Christmas music, plus,
Thing One & Thing Two
(sound familiar?) played by
Jessie Ray and Amelia
Zerkle, plus again, a total
switch up at the end! It’s two
shows in one!
You will be surprised and
entertained by The Charita
ble Sisterhood’s Christmas
Spectacular show and the
conclusion. This Christmas
comedic mystery with a little
drama thrown in creates a
perfect holiday performance
by the Tater Patch Players
who are very grateful for
your patronage. The TPP also
wishes to thank their many
sponsors, who help to feed
the crew and make this show
possible.
They are listed in the
show’s program, so please
mention to them that you saw
this production. We’re sure
they would love the feed
back! Yes, that’s right. You’ll
have to come to the show to
get the program so you can
spread the joy and keep the
Tater Patch Players playing.
Tickets and showtime
information can be found
at taterpatchplayers.org or
at the box office one hour
before showtime.

Supporting small busi
nesses ensures more money
stays in the communities
those businesses serve.
The U.S. Small Business
Administration says $48 out
of every $ 100 spent at a small
business stays in the commu
nity.
On the flip side, when a
person spends $100 at a big-
box store or a national chain,
only $ 14 remains in the com
munity.
Local businesses are more
likely to utilize other local
businesses, such as banks,
service providers and even
farms.
Small businesses also pay
employees, many of whom
are local and shop local,
thereby keeping even more
dollars in their communities.
