next Tuesday, December 14,
from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Low blood supplies
throughout the Covid crisis
are compounded with a tra
ditional slump in blood do
nations during the holiday
season, so we encourage you
to consider signing up to
“love your neighbor as your
self.” If you are eligible to
donate, regularly donating
provides a boost to your own
health; think of it like an oil
change for your body. The
Red Cross encourages ap
pointments, which can easily
be scheduled by visiting
www.RedCrossBlood.org
and entering the Sponsor
Word “MtZionJasper", or by
calling 1.800.RED.CROSS.
A Red Cross Blood
Donor app is also available
to facilitate appointments,
provide an electronic donor
card, and offer “Rapid Pass”,
a feature that saves time at
check-in on the day of the
drive. Mt. Zion is located at

ther Jesus needed. So what
turmoil do we live through
in our life every day? Is your
turmoil, struggle, nightmare
filled with financial hard
ship, is it a relationship with
your in-laws that seem more
like out-laws? Is your night
mare found at work, at
home, at church or at the
golf course? Is it covid re
lated? Are you struggling
with an illness or is someone
in your family?
The bottom line is we all
have daily nightmares and
struggles in our life. Things
that make life hard. What the
story of Joseph teaches us is
that God can bring peace
even when life is hard, a
struggle, or a nightmare.
These things don’t go away
but God’s peace helps us
live in the midst of and live
through these nightmares.
Joseph opened the door
to God and accepted the call
to be earthly father to the son
of God. He still had to live
with the finger pointing and
being “that” family in
Nazareth, but did it with
God’s peace. We often don’t
understand it but we know
when it happens to us and
we can see it in others
around us.
As a United Methodist
Pastor now for 32 years my
life is dependent on this
peace. You see I don’t
choose where I serve. I am
appointed by a cabinet, com
mittee of pastors and laity,
who move us pastors to new
churches. Without God’s
peace in my life this process
would be even more diffi
cult. I have learned to trust
God and rely on God’s
peace, knowing that God is
in the process. It does not
mean it is not hard, it does
not mean it is perfect but it
does mean it is always a
blessing. God’s peace en
ables me to see God’s
majesty in the blessings my
family and I have received
in all six communities in
which we have lived.
So where is peace needed
in your life? Will you seek
God’s peace to change your
life? The turmoil, the strug
gle, the nightmare will not
go away but God’s peace
helps us to see God’s
majesty as we live through
the hard places of life. Peace
is the second Sunday of Ad
vent.
