Rutledge - Smith wed
Brooke Marie Rutledge
and Spencer Charles Smith
were united in marriage on
October 22, 2021, at The
Chimneys in Big Canoe. The
Reverend Preston Jones offi
ciated.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. & Mrs. A. Bradley
Rutledge, Sr. of Jasper. Par
ents of the groom are Mr. &
Mrs. Gary Smith of Irmo,
South Carolina.
Escorting the bride was
her father. She wore a deli
cate A-line ballgown with
graceful off-the-shoulder em
broidered sleeves. The dress
featured lovely lace with flo
ral and leaf designs and a cir
cular skirt with horsehair
trim. A Cathedral length veil
trimmed in lace appliques
embellished with shimmer
ing sequins completed the
look. She wore her mother’s
diamond necklace and spe
cial pearl-and-diamond ear
rings worn by three
generations of women in her
family. She carried a bouquet
of white roses and hy
drangeas.
The bride chose her col
lege roommates Molly
Brooks, Brianne Leischow,
and Laura Norris as the
maids of honor. Karleigh
Smith, sister of the groom,
was the bridesmaid.
Tyler Smith, brother of the
groom, was the best man, and
A. Bradley Rutledge, Jr.,
brother of the bride, was the
groomsman.
Following a dinner and
dance reception, the couple
honeymooned in St. Lucia.
The newlyweds are making
their home in Columbia,
South Carolina.
The bride is a graduate of
the University of Georgia,
where she received her Bach
elor of Business Administra
tion in Marketing. She is
employed as a Product Mar
keting Manager with Allied
Air Enterprises.
The bridegroom is a grad
uate of the University of
South Carolina, where he re
ceived a Bachelor of Science
in Computer Information
Systems. He is employed as
a Software Consultant with
VMware.

Bell earns Dean’s
List at UGA
Brooke Bell was recently
named to the Dean’s List at
The University of Georgia
for the fall 2021. Bell, a grad
uate of PHS, is in the
Franklin College of Arts and
Sciences at UGA.
Dolan named to
UVM Dean’s List
Mallory Dolan, Psycho
logical Science major, has
been named to the dean's list
for the fall 2021 semester at
the University of Vermont.
Dolan from Ball Ground, GA
is in the College of Arts and
Sciences.
To be named to the dean's
list, students must have a
grade-point average of 3.0 or
better and rank in the top 20
percent of their class in their
respective college or school.

Service Club
The Pickens Community
Service Club meets every
2nd and 4th Thursdays at 7
p.m. downstairs in the county
administration office.
Dispain, Warren make academic
achievement list at Southwestern State
Joseph Dispain and Heath Warren, both of Jasper, made
the Fall 2021 Academic Achievement List at Georgia South
western State University and were among 606 students rec
ognized for scholastic achievement.
To be eligible for the Academic Achievement List, a stu
dent must previously earn at least 12 credit hours at GSW, be
enrolled in 3 to 11 hours of courses, and earn a 3.5 or higher
GPA. Georgia Southwestern State University, located in
Americus, Ga., is a public, four-year unit of the University
System of Georgia with approximately 3,000 students.
Nelson Council meeting change
Please be advised the Council Meeting originally sched
uled for January 3 will be held January 10, 2022.
Tater Patch annual meeting
Tater Patch Players annual membership meeting will be
held on January 24 at 7 p.m. at 95 Philadelphia Lane, Jasper.
GriefShare Seminar/Support
Group meets on Sundays
GriefShare is offering a seminar/support group from 2
p.m. - 4 p.m. on Sundays through April 3rd at King of Kings
Lutheran Church in Talking Rock. GriefShare is a video sem
inar featuring some of the nation’s experts on grief recovery
topics. Each seminar is combined with a small group discus
sion to allow group participants to talk about the content of
the seminar and about how they are dealing with the death of
their loved ones. Anyone grieving the death of a relative or
friend is invited to participate in one or all of the seminars.
Childcare is available at no charge, along with a workbook.

Amateur Radio Club meeting
The Jasper Amateur Radio Club meets on the second
Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Cornerstone Church
Auxiliary building, 145 Cornerstone Drive (off Camp Road
just east of the Pickens County Community Center).
All visitors are welcome to attend. Each meeting has a free
presentation and discussion of Amateur Radio events or op
erating modes, including Emergency Communications. Come

Loaded Cauliflower
Casserole
6 slices bacon, cut 1/2-inch thick
2 medium heads cauliflower, cut into bite-
size florets (3 to 4 pounds total) ***
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pep
per
6 ounces cream cheese, at room tempera
ture ***
2 cups shredded Cheddar
4 scallions, white and light green parts
only, thinly sliced
2/3 cup sour cream
***May be purchased at Rooster’s Market
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
Cook the bacon in a medium nonstick skil
let over medium heat, stirring occasionally,
until brown and crispy, 6 to 7 minutes.
Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate. Re
serve 2 tablespoons of the bacon drippings.
Put the cauliflower florets in a 3-quart
casserole dish. Toss with the reserved 2 ta
blespoons bacon drippings, 3/4 teaspoon
salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Roast until
the florets are soft and begin to brown,
about 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, mix together the cream cheese
and 1 cup of the Cheddar in a medium
bowl until well combined. Dollop over the
cauliflower, then sprinkle with the remain
ing 1 cup Cheddar and bake until the cau
liflower is tender when poked with a knife
and the Cheddar is melted and bubbly, 5 to
7 minutes more.
Dollop the sour cream evenly over the
casserole and sprinkle with the scallions
and reserved bacon pieces.
