Letters to tke. Editor
To the Editor:
Do you want your elected
representatives to make deci
sions based on reality? Do
you want responsible action
based on facts and reason?
Now listen carefully. The
coronavirus that causes
COVID-19 is extremely con
tagious, FROM BREATH
ING. By contrast, take, oh I
don’t know, cancer for ex
ample. Even if caused by a
virus (which it frequently is
not), cancer itself is NOT
contagious from breathing.
Therefore, we must combat
these two diseases differ
ently.
Whew, I’m exhausted
from that deep thinking.
But in December of 2021,
Marjorie Taylor Greene,
U.S. Congress Rep for the
14th District of Georgia,
tweeted these dangerously
ignorant comments:
“1. Every single year
more than 600,000 people in
the US die from cancer.
The country has never
once shut down.
Not a single school has
closed.
And every year, over
600,000 people, of all ages
and all races will continue to
die from cancer. “
Later she added,
‘‘Shutdowns, masking,
and vaccines are not stop
ping covid, that is just gov
ernment control,” and
“4. To care about others
& save lives, our response to
#COVID19 should be work
ing towards ending obesity,
promote covid treatments
that are proven to work, &
stop the politically driven
mass hysteria.”
Ya, stop the hysteria
against masks and vaccines,
both PROVEN to drastically
reduce COVID infection and
illness. Ask your local MD.
Pro-death Ms. Greene is
deeply immoral for shovel
ing these lies. She has dis
posable time, income, and a
staff with with which to dis
cover the truth. She can
know it, but refuses.
And yeah, all those non-
airbome viruses she refer
ences that cause cancer? We
actively seek VACCINES
for them, and have achieved
some. HPV and Hepatitis B
have VACCINES.
What does she get from
these falsifications? Money,
maybe? Lots of ways to ask
for cash for being a fake vic
tim. Maybe she gains status
as a “champion” of some
sort. Fake heroes can grift
too.
Doesn’t matter why.
Don’t send money to—or
vote for—this maliciously
moronic person. Leave the
space blank if you must.
Or, you could vote for re
sponsible adults who want to
protect people from a harsh
reality with easy, free vacci
nations. Look around. Those
people exist.

Pickens non-profit Lunch & Learn
January 24 to teach grant application
By Suellen Reitz
Unless you are brand new
to Pickens County, you
know that our Community
Thrift Store is all about help
ing those in need from Pick
ens. In the 20 plus years
since the store opened it’s
doors, more than
$10,000,000 has been given
back to the community in the
form of grants to 501C3 non
profit organizations located
within the county. This
money is raised from the sale
of all of the generous dona
tions given to the store
throughout the year.
When the store was set
up, a separate board of vot
ing officers known as the
Pickens County Community
Resource Association Incor
porated or PCCRA, was
formed to review grant ap
plications and award the
funds on a quarterly basis to
deserving groups with a
meaningful cause and need.
There are hundreds of quali
fying non profit groups reg
istered in our county, but
only a handful take the time
to apply.
Receiving free money for
a worthy cause is a no
brainer. All 501C3 organiza
tions are eligible to apply.
We at the thrift store believe
the lack of participation is
not because of lack of need
or interest... but rather, lack
of information.
The fix? A free luncheon
/ information session open to
all qualifying groups. Come
enjoy a delicious lunch
catered by Fatz on Monday,
January 24 at the Chatta
hoochee Technical College
from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
and learn how to easily apply
online. Please register your
organization’s representative
name (one per non profit
please) NLT 17 January @
cts3 0143@gmail.com.
Pickens Community
Thrift Store cashier Jo
Young takes money for sale
of a variety of items from a
happy customer who saved
a bundle. It’s shoppers and
the donners who donate all
items sold in the store that
make grants a possibility for
the Pickens County non
profit organizations.
