nar and about how they are
dealing with the death of their
loved ones. Anyone grieving
the death of a relative or friend
is invited to participate in one
or all of the seminars. Child
care is available at no charge,
along with a workbook.

Help CASA change a child’s story
Please help us change a
child’s story. Become a CASA
volunteer. Many local chil
dren in foster care are waiting
for a Court Appointed Special
Advocate (CASA) volunteer
to be by their side. CASA vol
unteers are regular people —
stay-at-home moms, retirees,
teachers, businesspeople. All
it takes is a heart and a will
ingness to speak up for a
child’s best interest.
Your gift of time as a vol
unteer is one of the most valu
able ways you can impact the
lives of our children, and all
you have to do is be yourself.
Many volunteers speak of
how rewarding their time as a
CASA has been. We hope you
will consider making your
next endeavor becoming a
CASA volunteer.
You must at least be 21
years of age, able to pass an
extensive background screen
ing and successfully complete
30 hours of training and 10
hours of courtroom observa
tion.
The next child advocate
training session for Gilmer,
Fannin and Pickens counties
begins Tuesday, March 1. If
you are interested in learning
more about the CASA pro
gram and the rewards that
come along with serving as
the voice of a child, you can
visit our website, appalachian-
casa.com. For additional in
formation contact Destiny

gagement Specialist, at
