THURSDAY. MARCH 3. 2022 PICKENS COUNTY PROGRESS PAGE 3B CONTINUED Jasper church believes strongly in global mission with the human tragedy of war in a very dif ficult and volatile part of the world. We also have invested for years in the unique work of World Baptist Fellowship Mission Agency missionary Meisha Dean, a single woman ministering to women and youth in local churches and orphanages in and around Kyiv. Though she had no desire to evacuate and abandon the people to whom she is called to serve, the pastor of her home church, Bible Baptist Church of Slaton, TX, insisted she leave the field temporarily for her own safety. She made it to the U.S. just be fore hostilities broke out. Another organization effected by the war, and one with which Mt. Zion shares a long history of service to children and youth is that of Word of Life International, which works with local churches to evangelize and disciple young people across the globe. WOLI oper ates in Ukraine the same Word of Life Clubs, camps, special evangelistic events and Bible Institutes Mt. Zion is involved with in the U.S. Most of the sixty-five Word of Life staff workers in Ukraine have safely crossed the border to neighboring countries, with the ex ception of Ukranian men, who are remaining in the country to defend their homeland while helping to serve the massive numbers of refugees fleeing the violence. Last but not least, Michael and Jane Nales are church planters supported by Mt. Zion who are ministering to the Roma people of Romania in a region very near the border with Ukraine. Pastor Mock shared just days ago news from the Nales of the movement of a large contingency of NATO forces in their area, including U.S. troops and aircraft. Now they report that they are seeing the influx of mass numbers of refugees from Ukraine. Jane is actually the daughter of members of Mt. Zion, who covet your prayers for the safety of their children and grandchildren. Mt. Zion is strongly committed to the task of the Great Commission, which has been de scribed as “making Jesus famous among every last tribe of the earth”. In these perilous times, as the winds of war blow across the world, we are dedicated to supporting the work of missionaries who are being used of the Lord to build His kingdom and shine the light of Christ in some very dark places. This coming Lord’s Day, March 6, Mt. Zion will begin a month of emphasizing mis sions in all of our Sunday services. Speaking in both our Sunday School hour at 10 a.m. and our worship service at 11 a.m., this week we will welcome veteran missionaries Tony and Joy Anzalone, who served as church planters in Ecuador, South America for over 30 years before transitioning to their current work with “Live Global,” a program serving indigenous ministry leaders across the globe. For more information about our church, and opportunities for worship and service with us, please visit mtzionjasper.org, or call the office at 706.692.6315. Mt. Zion is lo cated at 1036 N. Main in Jasper. Zion Bap tist Church invites all women of faith, and those who aspire to be, to join a new series of study entitled “Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed,” beginning Thursday, March 3. Featured speakers Priscilla Shirer, Kay Arthur, and Beth Moore focus on the different stages of the life of David: as a young man (sessions one and two by Priscilla Shirer), as a middle-aged man (ses sions three and four by Beth Moore), and as a man facing the final third of his life (ses sions five and six by Kay Arthur). You'll laugh with them, cry with them, and learn to love God with them. A sneak peak into this study can be viewed at https://vimeo.com/8596560. Sessions are held each Thursday until Easter in two convenient schedules: morn ing (10 a.m. - 12 p.m.) and evening (6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.). The format of Com munity Bible Study consists of an opening assembly of all ladies, followed by small group discussion guided by caring, experienced leaders. After small group time, all ladies come together again for a video of the next week’s lesson by the featured speaker. Personal home study is enhanced and facilitated by a work book available for a modest cost. All women of our community are welcome, and can sign up by simply showing up, registering on line at mtzionjasper.org, or calling the office at 706.692.6315. Mt. Zion is lo cated at 1036 N. Main in Jasper. Anointed Gospel Singing Everyone is welcome to an anointed gospel singing on Saturday, March 26th from 12-6 p.m. at Blairsville Community Building, 129 Union Country Rec. Rd. in Blairsville (next to Butter Nut Creek Golf Course). The gospel groups are: Highly Favored, Three Skeeter Hindman, Lee Ann Wood Gospel Group, The Light House, TSK Gospel Group, Darline Johnson and Steve Knight. Also, Evangelist Evelyn Adams will be preaching an anointed message from Jesus. Everyone will be served a free lunch to enjoy of sand wich, chips, dip, baked beans, potato salad, cookies and fruit. For more information call Faith Deliverance Ministry at 706-671-7988. It’s a cool, crisp Friday morning. Richard Vaughn and Bob Pettee pull in behind a busy Jasper shopping cen ter. They are greeted by smil ing bakers carrying boxes filled with loaves of whole wheat, butter crusted, sour dough, French, rye and multi-seed plus perhaps cin namon buns, cupcakes or brownies. So begins another day in the life of the Bread Ministry of Fellowship Pres byterian Church. The Mis sions Ministry of Fellowship Presbyterian Church regu larly serves hundreds of the most needy in our local com munity. The flagship of our Ministries is the Bread Deliv ery program. As has been the case for decades, the mission team then gathers these generously donated baked goods from local grocery stores and loads them into the cars of Bill and Millie Cain, Henry Hall and other volunteer team mem bers. Each car then heads out on their route to deliver to adult regeneration and child welfare agencies throughout our surrounding area. So far God has enabled our Bread Ministry to complete enough deliveries to fill countless bread trucks, each delivery touching the most vulnerable people in Pickens and Gilmer Counties.
