Ernie Green January 23, 1950 - February 23, 2022 Ernie Lee Green, 72, of Jasper, GA was called from this life at Grady Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, Feb ruary, 23, 2022. Ernie was bom in McRae, GA, on January 23, 1950 to the late John and Jerusha Lee Green. He was a truck driver, and he took pride in keeping himself and others safe. He loved people, especially chil dren, and he spent his life sacrificing to help others. He enjoyed simple things - a hardy Southern breakfast, a day-trip with his family, a conversation with a stranger - but found his greatest joy in making others happy and tak ing care of his family. He was a member of Maranatha Church of Jesus Christ. Chil dren took to him because he could always be counted on for a treat, a hug, and kind words; adults knew that he would go out of his way to fix a car, take someone to an appointment, or do whatever he could to help in a crisis, and he never expected any thing in return. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Donna Green; children, Jason Green of Dahlonega, GA; Tamara Green of Cleveland, TN; Brandon Green (Jamie) of Lincolnton, NC; and Mark Green of Marietta, GA; granddaughter, Jaiden Green of Lincolnton, NC; brothers, Henry Green (Martha) of Dawsonville, GA; Curtis This weekend the show at the Tater Patch Players The ater at 95 Philadelphia Lane saw a group of actresses give performances that really brought their characters' sto ries to life. The Wild Women of Winedale by Jones Hope Wooten is a delight. The Wild sisters and their sister-in-law were played by Jan Simpson, Sherri Stoney, and Phyllis Zerkle. They positively sparkled on stage, sometimes literally. They play three women who are leaving the primes of their lives and find themselves saddled with few career choices ahead, no husbands, and a house groaning under the weight of all the family "treasurers.” At some point in the com edy, they realize that they can't move on because they are weighed down with everyone's stuff (plus some stuff about their lives that they've been ignoring.) Phyllis Zerkle plays Willa, a nurse who loves to take care of people. Recently, she's come to realize that the job she loves has been in creasingly burdened with pa perwork and insurance forms and that she isn't caring for very many people anymore. When their Aunt Willa dies in her bedroom in their family home, she really doesn't have anyone left to care for. And widowed sister-in- law, "Jef" Wild (Stoney) ar rives unexpectedly on the scene after losing her home and all her belongings in a bizarre way. She thinks find ing a new husband (with a house) will fix all her prob lems and sets out, hilariously, Green (Dannie) of Warner Robins, GA; Emerald Green (Clara) of Ft. Valley, GA; and sisters, Marsha Brown and Catherine Gassell, both of Butler, GA. Ernie was preceded in death by two brothers, John Green and Carey Green (Susan). Funeral services were held at 12 p.m. on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Cagle Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Johnny Hollingshead, Rev. Victor Roberson, Rev. Billy Angel, and Mark Green officiating. Interment was at Little Prospect Memorial Grounds in Dalton, GA following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to assist with fu neral expenses. Cagle Funeral Home is honored to serve the Green family. Joyce Sparks August 27, 1953 - February 22, 2022 Mrs. Joyce Sparks, 68, of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Pied mont Mountainside Hospital. Mrs. Sparks is survived by her mother, Sara Jett of Chamblee; sons and daugh- ters-in-law, Clayton & Dedria Sparks of Gumming, and Shane & Brandy Sparks of Jasper; daughter and son- in-law, Sarah & Dwayne Brown of Ellijay; brother and sister-in-law, Emmons & Ruth Boatfield of Lilbum; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda Boatfield of Cham blee, Dee & Marc DeRaligh of Upland, CA, Debbie & Denny Farley of Commerce, to find one. All three of the cast have created wonder fully real characters and they bring gales of laughter to the audience. Special mention goes to Ms. Stoney, who has taken on her first really big role at Tater Patch Players. She proved more than ready for the challenge in some of the funniest "bits" in the show. There are, in addition, three other actresses: Nancy Loy, April Miller, and Eliz abeth Mullis who play six different women in short "skits" between each scene. These six women are doing filmed interviews for a proj ect that sister Fanny (simp- son) is spearheading at her job. The skits show six differ ent "types" of women. Some are hysterical and some might bring a more somber thought, but all are wonderful interludes that tie the whole and Faith Zilka of Chamblee; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Febru ary 25, 2022 at Cagle Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Dean Head officiating. The family accepted live plants or make donations to Children's Health Care of At lanta. Cagle Funeral Home is honored to serve the Sparks family.
