Public welcome to visit meditation site at Holy Family
The Mountain Stewards Trail
Crew and the Holy Family Grounds
Crew joined in an operation to create
a Daughters of the King Meditation
and Memorial Site on the north side
of the Holy Family Lake. The north
side of the lake was first cleared of
small trees to open the view, with all
of the clearing debris mulched for
trail cover. Approximately 250 feet of
new trails have been added to access
the site from the existing trails en
trance kiosk located on south side of
church parking lot. Don Wells de
signed the meditation and memorial
site and it was built by the Mountain
Stewards Trail Crew with tremen
dous help from Bruce Elliott’s Holy
Family Grounds Crew. Richard Hall
crafted the new swings as seen in the
accompanying picture.
The site consists of three swings,
a pentagonal bench, surrounding the
tree remaining at the site, and a picnic
table. The site will accommodate 9
people comfortably and there is room
for at least 5-6 camp chairs for more
people to be at the site at the same
time.
All are invited to visit the site as a
wonderful spot to rest and reflect, and
for some of us, to fish too! While at
Holy Family, please plan on visiting
the 2.8 miles of hiking trails and the
Labyrinth, a spiral walking path for
spiritual reflection & meditation.
The Episcopal Church of the Holy
Family is located near the comer of
Grandview and Cove Roads east of
Jasper at 202 Griffith Road. For
more information, please visit our
website at holyfamilyepisco-

What would
Jesus do?
By Rebecca Hampton

NAME
We are studying this
book at the Cowboy
Church in Jerusalem on
Wednesday night and it
has been a real blessing. If
you will remember when
everyone started talking
about, What Would Jesus
Do? This book is based on
this theme. I didn't know
this really started in the
1800s. I thought it started
several years ago. If you
haven"t read this book,
you need to. It's a must
read.
As we get into this
book, you realize this is
an awesome question.
Would you ask yourself
this question as you
needed to make a decision
in your life. These people
in the book made some
very hard decisions in
their lives. It cost some of
the people everything. I
asked myself, would I be
willing to do that? I pray
I would.
We need to ask our
selves,What would Jesus
do? In every situation in
our lives. Whether we're
working, playing, eating,
drinking or praising the
Lord. We must be willing
to move, relocate, stay,
whatever He tells us to do.

Building Up Others
“Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual
edification.” —Romans 14:19 NIV
The dictionary defines “edify” as “to instruct especially so as
to encourage intellectual, moral, or spiritual improvement.”
(The American Heritage Dictionary, 4th ed.) The word comes
from the Latin word aedificare, meaning to build, from
whence we get the word edifice, and thus weare not far off
when we say that we edify when we build others up rather
than tear them down. But how best to edify our brothers and
sisters? Perhaps the simplest and most direct way is to encour
age them, especially when they are struggling. Encourage oth
ers to be the best that they can and let them know that you
believe in them. A second means of edifying others is to listen
carefully to them. Listening to others is a way of letting them
know that they matter. And of course, we should tell them
that we appreciate the good work that they do. We all need to
believe that our work, however humble, is important. So let
the people you interact with know that you respect them and
the work they do. Finally, focus on the positive, and if you
must criticize someone, tiy to do it in a loving way. One way
to do that is to praise something good about their work before
telling them what needs to be improved. — Christopher Simon
