To The Editor:
Looking Towards the
Mountains Fair
Looking towards the moun
tains far, brightened by a dis
tant star,
They thought of all that they
had seen. Where they’d gone.
Where they’d been.
With faith alone they
survived a time among a
Georgia mountain line -
Sharp Top, Mole, Little Pine,
Hendrix and Oglethorpe
along the spine.
High above the valleys where
the old families would tend
and care - Pendley, Fields,
Darnell and Long
built their orchards,
bathed in song.
Singing hymnals by the creek
at Sharptop Baptist every
week.
On humbled knees they’d
pray and bow to Jesus Christ,
as they knew how.
Looking towards the moun
tains quaint, brightened by a
memory faint,
they thought of all who came
before, who made this place
that we adore.

To the Editor:
I'm curious.
Why are the local teachers
not armed and trained while
in school?
Are they considered too
stupid to learn gun safety?
Are they denied their
Right to Keep and Bear arms
in defense of their own lives,
as well as the lives of their
students for political reasons?
I have limited contact with
the local teachers, but I doubt
they are unable to leam such
simple concepts involved
with firearms safety.
And... it seems, I place a
much higher value on the
lives of the students and
teachers than the union they
belong to.
I want them armed so they
can defend themselves and
their students.
The politicians passing
laws for everybody else send
their kids to private schools
with impregnable fences and
armed guards on site.
