Happy anniversary at Fellowship Presbyterian
July marks the first an
niversary of Blake and Katie
Hudson accepting God’s call
to bring their family to Jasper
and serve our Lord at Fellow
ship Presbyterian Church,
ECO. They and their four
children are bringing re
newed life and energy to ex
isting and new aspects in the
life of our growing church.
Every Sunday morning at 10
worship service they share
with us biblically based ser
mons tinged with humor that
are thoughtful and thought
provoking. Each week’s mes
sage contains immediate ap
plications to our everyday
life such as what the Bible
says about how to manage
our anger when we and our
beliefs are verbally attacked
Blake and Katie Hudson pictured with their family.
(Acts 7:54-60).
The Hudsons have also
helped ignite fresh perspec
tives on our hospitality,
church building and grounds,
new opportunities to witness,
varied platforms for Christian
education, and more. All
these developments are al
ready resulting in more new
guests to our worship serv
ices and an increasing num
ber of returning guests
leading to new members and
commitments to Christ.

Bible reading
marathon set for
July 14th
The fourth annual Georgia
Bible Reading Marathon for
Pickens County will be held
on July 14th beginning at
7:14 a.m. on the Pickens
County Courthouse. The en
tire community is invited to
attend.
The event started in 2018
for Georgia when Jerri Tuck
was contacted by Dianne
Bentley, the current leader of
the International Bible Read
ing Marathon and State Rep
resentative for Iowa. She
found the event so successful
for her state, she started con
tacting leaders in other states
and named the project 7/14
after the scripture 2 Chroni
cles 7:14.
Since 2018, Tuck has been
leading the state of Georgia,
assigning representatives and
dedicating verses. Now, for
the fourth year in a row, the
entire Bible will be read on
July 14th at 7:14 a.m. on each
county's courthouse steps.
Assembling will begin at
6:45 a.m. At 7 a.m., I will ask
all visiting pastors to intro
duce themselves. At 7:14
a.m. we will begin reading.
We will be reading 2 Samuel
17-22. As other counties read
their assigned verses, the
whole Bible will be being
read across Georgia’s 159
counties that very morning.
Feel free to bring a chair
and a thermos of coffee.
Also, you are more than wel
come to invite others that
may not see this post.

Praying for our
nation
By Rev Max
Caylor I
“He has
told you, O
man, what is
good; And
what does the Lord re
quire of you Except to be
just, and to love [and to
diligently practice] kind
ness (compassion), And
to walk humbly with your
God [setting aside any
overblown sense of im
portance or self-right
eousness. ” Micah 6:8
Amplified Bible
Micah was God’s
prophet in troubling
times. The kingdoms of
Israel and Judah were full
or dishonesty in the mar
ket place, corruption in
government, mistreatment
of the poor and unfaithful
ness by the religious lead
ers. God through Micah
sent them a warning in a
reminder of how they
were to live “to be just,
love diligently, practice
kindness and walk
humbly with your God.”
As we approach July
4th and the celebration of
our freedom as a nation I
turned to a prayer of
George Washington and
with Micah to remind us
of how we are called to
live spiritually and as a
nation.

You’ve
Got This
“For the Spirit God gave us does
not make us timid, but gives us
power, love and self-discipline. ”
2 'l'imothy l :7 N1V
G reat undertakings usually
require competence,
planning, and cooperation.
They also often require courage.
Have you ever been asked to take
on a task, and then backed down
because you weren’t sure you could
do it? If so, it may have been a
crisis of confidence, and one where
you might have experienced
growth by taking on the task. We
can all take heart when we realize
how many of the heroes of the
Bible had the same experience.
When Moses was tasked with
going to the Pharaoh of Egypt and
convincing him to let the Israelites
go, he demurred and responded by
saying “Since I speak with faltering
lips, why would Pharaoh listen to
me?” (Exodus 6:30 NIV) Consider
all of the times that David must
have doubted himself, from his
battles with the giant Goliath, to
his task of leading the unruly
Israelites and contending with
their many enemies. What comes
out in all of these Biblical stories is
that God has high expectations for
us, and if God is giving us a task
then He knows that we can do it.
Perhaps the thing for us to
consider is whether the task is
something good, i.e., is it
something that would help others
or advance a good cause. If so,
then consider prayerfully whether
to take it on, and also prayerfully
consider how best to do it. Then
have faith that you can do it, with
the Lord’s help of course. God is, as
it were, telling you that “you’ve got
this!”
