Easy Ways to Save
Money & Energy This
Holiday
• Light with LEDs. LED
decorations can use more
than 50 percent less energy
than traditional incandescent
decorations and last up to 10
times longer.
• Find Festive Fiber Optics.
The technology uses one
light source that flows
through fiber cable to multi
ple visible points of the light.
• Timing Counts. Use smart
plugs and timers to ensure
that holiday decorations are
only in use when people are
home, or awake, to enjoy
them.
Keep Safety First When
Celebrating
• Check your outlets. Look
for outlets that have loose-fit
ting plugs, exposed wires or
broken plates and have them
fixed by a qualified electri
cian. Use safety covers on all
outlets accessible to children.
• Check for damaged wires.
Check each set of lights, new
or old, for broken or cracked
sockets, frayed or bare wires,
or loose connections.
• Watch for lines and poles.
Be sure to install decorations
away from power poles, lines
and the building’s primary
power drop or connection
point, and be careful when
using ladders or working off
the ground.
• Take extra care outdoors.
Only use lights and extension
cords designed for outdoor
use and keep electric connec
tions above ground and out of
areas where water may col
lect.
• Trim the tree safely. Use
only non-combustible or
flame-resistant materials to
trim a tree.

Two weeks of Farmers Markets left
to stock up on Christmas gifts
So, cold pressed is faster,
but rougher and hot pressed
is slower and smoother?
Talking with the various ven
dors who make soaps you’ll
learn that soap making is not
so simple!
Nick and Ashley Riggin
of Riggin Farm offer soaps
made with both processes,
along with pasture raised
meat and eggs, fresh produce
and flowers.
Christy & Scott Myer-
scough of Honey Belle Hill
Homestead also offer artisan
soaps along with herbal
salves, eggs, honey, teas and
select goods for health and
home.
Elizabeth and Trent Henry
of SGT Peppers Farm offer
the best of hot pepper jellies.
The mildest of which is a
Charapita. Bright yellow and
great over cream cheese for
the holiday snack tray. But,
even better, and milder is
their Blueberry Charapita
jelly! It was a hit at Thanks
giving and will be the star at
Christmas. Or for those with
braver taste buds, try any of
their other hot choices for
your morning breakfast or
holiday party.
Handcrafted and home
made jellies, soaps, and jew
elry are great for gift giving.
There are only two weeks left
of the Jasper Farmers
Market for this year and if
you are in need of stocking
stuffers, hostess gifts, or se
cret elf surprises, come to the
market.
There are plenty of great
choices to check off the
Christmas list or add pizzazz
to your party. And stop by to
pick up some frozen Fancy
Fruit Sorbet from Vivian Tritt
to keep in the freezer. Fike
her business card states,
“Treat Yourself Better!” You
can’t go wrong with non
dairy coconut milk based
fancy fruit sorbet in a large
variety of flavors.
And if you need some
thing unique and colorful
let’s hope Brenda Romesberg
will be back with her stained
glass artwork. She captures
nature through color. Haley
Gilstrap of Rustic Cowgirl
Creations offers up western
themed jewelry. You’ll meet
quite the variety of people at
the Jasper Farmers Market
offering quite the variety of
goods, services, creations,
and deliciousness. Please
come see them all at our last
two markets of the year and
fill up a bag with Zack Hen
son’s spaghetti squash.
The JFM is sponsored by
the PCMG, Pickens County
Master Gardeners. The mar
ket is located by Fee Newton
Memorial Park in the Park N
Ride parking lot across from
the Veterans Memorial. We
truly appreciate all the ven
dors and customers who
make the Jasper Farmers
Market possible. Thank you
all.
