This holiday season Jasper

2,500 items at their busi

boxes were placed.
The items were wrapped

Impressive 4-Hers wow Lions
Submitted by
Jasper Lions Club
The Jasper Lions Club
had a very active November
meeting. The guests were
various members of Pickens
County 4-H. All age groups
of the 4-H program were rep
resented with cloverleaf (4th-
6th grade), junior (7th and
8th grade), and senior (9th-
12th grade) representatives
present. After the meal, Lions
Club members were given a
brief report of the success
that the group has shown
over the last year with a stu
dent achieving Master Status,
another being named State
Champion in Public Speak
ing, 5 being chosen as State
4-H Ambassadors, and yet
another speaking to other
young 4-Hers at the Mission
Make It: State 4-H Technol
ogy
Challenge. It was also
pointed out that 100% of Jun
iors and Seniors competing at
district level won first place
and 100% of the Cloverleaf
4-Hers placed at the Spring
District Project Achievement
contest as well. After the re
port, Lions Club Members
everyone was treated to
Sophie Morgan’s state
winning speech. But the fun
was not over yet! Lions Club
members then visited each 4-
Hers booth where they
shared the area of concentra
tion that they were studying
this year. Sarahi Flores had a
brain boosting healthy fruit
snack and told members
about MyPlate. Sophia Scott
told members about the Joro
Spider and had her pollinator
display board from the Geor
gia National Fair. Ryan John
son shared his display about
Smart Homes, while Sheila
Flores, also in the housing
project, told members about
the psychology behind the
paint colors they choose for
their home. Molly Hooker,
who is in the International
Project,
shared the joy of a Kadama
toy as she told what she had
learned about Thanksgiving
in Japan.
Pickens County 4-H Club members at the meeting were:
Front row (l to r) Amelia Hooker, Sarahi Flores, Shelia
Flores; Back row Ryan Johnson, Molly Hooker, Reese
Davis, Sophia Scott, and Traci Buckingham, volunteer
leader.
Reese Davis who is in the
Outdoor Recreation project
talked about what you could
do other than photos to re
mind you of your outdoor ad
ventures through crafting,
and finally Amelia Hooker
showed members how to
make a Thanksgiving craft
that everyone was sure to
enjoy.
The members were im
pressed with the knowledge
that the youth shared and left
the meeting being educated
about a wide variety of top
ics.
The Jasper Lions Club
thoroughly enjoyed meeting
the 4-H members and were
so impressed with their
knowledge and presentation
of their demonstrations. Traci
Buckingham is leading and
developing these young peo
ple into remarkable individu
als.
We welcome them back
anytime!!
