To the Editor:
Marjorie Taylor Greene,
Republican, US House,
Georgia, introduced a bill to
account for taxpayer funds
spent for Ukraine. It was
blocked.
I can know why and so do
you. We, USA, are fighting a
proxy war with Russia which
has been effective in terms of
the reduction of Russian
armed forces. Russia has
called on Iran, N. Korea and
China for assistance and get
ting it. so, the greatest coun
try in the world stepped in to
support Ukraine’s valiant
fight to remain free. It may be
a dictatorship but Ukrainian
leadership is getting the mes
sage that the greatest democ
racy in the world is showing
the example of freedom,
maybe, for them to follow?
Ms. Greene could better
direct her efforts to stop
Biden from depleting our oil
reserve which was kept in
case of a national emergency.

To The Editor:
I want to send a written
thank you to the men at Am-
icalola Electric. It is Satur
day, Christmas Eve and 7
degrees. Our transformer
blew this morning and I im
mediately called to report the
outage.
Not only did they come
out on this holiday weekend
in freezing cold temperatures
but they replaced the trans
former by our home and
worked on tree limbs that
needed removing. I am re
covering from the flu and
could not thank them in per
son. Thank you all for your
unbelievable service and ded
ication to your job. God bless
all of you. You gave us the
best Christmas gift ever. To
have our electric back and a
warm happy Christmas.
You gave us here in Jasper
incredible service and we are
grateful to you guys.
Merry Christmas and a
happy healthy New Year.

To the Editor:
Dirt and Sewage
We are running out of
good dirt all over the world.
So to grow enough food we
are putting gazil-lions of tons
of fertilizer on our fields
made from natural gas which
is a sequestered carbon. Ac
cording to the woke greenies
this is killing mother earth.
On top of this we put
some poo from our sewage
systems in our rivers where it
goes to the ocean and pol
lutes that water. Seems like
we need to rethink this whole
process.
Why not build public
sewer systems which capture
and dry all of the poo and
turn it into soil so we can
grow food without so much
artificial fertilizer. That
would be smarter use of
money than sticking up
windmills that break down
all the time or covering the
earth in solar panels.
Most public sewer sys
tems collect the solids from
the poo, wet press it into sort
of semi wet goo and then
truck it to lined land fills to
be buried down deep where it
will stay until the great get
ting up day. Those products
of the soil are lost to human
use.
There are systems that can
process that semi wet goo
into useable soil for gardens
. As we replace our old city
sewer systems with new
equipment we need to add
those systems that can make
good clean "potting" soil for
us to use and not truck it to
landfills.
Those new sewer systems
also need to include equip
ment to process septage. For
those of you who do not want
to spend a lot of thought on
these unpleasant matters,
septage is that stuff they
pump out of your septic tank.
It needs to be treated and
turned into good dirt also in
stead of being pumped un
treated onto fields out of
sight and mind and smell.
Elected leaders in our
community should consider
and talk about these matters.
Citizens need to ask ques
tions. However, it is not a
good idea to have the conver
sation at lunch.

to each day.
911 hang up call
Deputies responded to a
911 hang up call. A man and
woman said they had barri
caded their bedroom door be
cause they thought someone
was under the bed. The man
said he heard someone out
side the bedroom window
that was mumbling. The
deputies searched around the
home and found nothing.
Both the man and the woman
said they had been drinking
and the man was taking med
ication he probably should
not mix with alcohol.
Woman called for deputies
for unwanted guest
A woman called for
deputies because she said her
adult son had been in the
home earlier, but he has an
active warrant. The woman
said her son was holding her
toaster while talking to her.
She told him she did not want
him in the home if he had an
active warrant. The son left
the home and left the toaster
at the house.
Unruly woman in a
business
Deputies were called to
Faz Corner about an unruly
woman. The store clerk said
the woman had been in the
store for about two hours and
being loud and cussing inside
the store in front of other cus
tomers. The deputies could
smell alcohol on the unruly
woman. The unruly woman
told deputies she was just try
ing to get a ride some place,
but could not tell the deputies
where she wanted to go. The
unruly woman was not mak
ing much sense with any
thing she told the deputies.
The store clerk wanted the
unruly woman removed from
the store and criminally tres
passed from the store.
Domestic dispute at
Biguns BBQ
Deputies were called
about a domestic at Biguns
BBQ. Before deputies could
get to the restaurant the caller
called again and told the
deputies that the people had
left and gave a description of
the car they left in. Deputies
spotted the car and pulled it
over. The people in the car all
said they had only argued
over a dog and being late for
Christmas pictures. As it
turns out one of the people in
the car had an outstanding
warrant from another county
and was arrested.
inside the home and found no
one, nor any evidence that
anyone had been there.
Request for extra patrol
A homeowner, in the
North Avenue area of Nelson,
requested extra patrols in the
area due to damage being
done to his truck. The home
owner’s track had damage
done to the driver’s side, it
looked like the track had
been hit with something. The
homeowner said he thinks he
knows who did the damage,
but did not see that person do
the damage to his track. The
homeowner assumes this per
son had done some damage
around his home over the
past two years. Extra patrols
were assigned to the area.
Animal control contacted
deputy
Animal control contacted
a deputy due to an animal
owner not having proper pa
perwork on a dog. Animal
control told the deputy the
animal owner let his dog
roam the neighborhood and it
had attacked another dog in
the neighbor’s yard. The ani
mal owner did not have pa
perwork proving the dog had
a rabies vaccination. The
deputy issued some citations
to the animal owner.
Harassing communications
A woman called for a
deputy because a lady was
harassing her through social
media. The woman said she
and the lady had some type
of an issue a while back and
the lady started harassing her.
The woman said she tried to
get a protective order against
the lady but just gets “the ran
around” from the court sys
tem. The woman said she
told the lady she could no
longer contact her and that
caused the lady to send vul
gar things and call the
woman names. The woman
just wants the lady to not
contact her. The deputy sug
gested she block the woman
on social media.
Child custody swap
A woman contacted a
deputy about a child custody
swap. The woman told the
deputy she and her ex had set
it up to do a custody swap at
the sheriff’s office and they
did for a while. The woman
said she wanted to do the
swaps there because of past
issues with her ex. The
woman said the ex now said
they will swap at the Quik
Trip. The woman asked for a
deputy to escort her to the
Quik Trip in order to do the
custody swap.
Threats made
Deputies were called to a
home about someone making
threats. When deputies got to
the home there was a car sit
ting in the driveway with a
man and woman in the car.
The man told the deputy he
was there to get money that
the homeowner owed him for
a job. Shortly after the home
owner’s girlfriend arrived at
the home and she told the
deputy that the man had told
the homeowner if he did not
pay him, the man would
harm the homeowner’s girl
friend and her children. She
did not actually hear that
threat, the homeowner had
told her about it. The deputy
ran the information on all the
people at the scene and the
man in the car had an active
warrant. The homeowner
asked to have the man crimi
nally trespassed from the
property. The man was taken
to jail on his outstanding war
rant.
