We have finally gotten
on the ship and found our
cabin with a view. This is
on the Wednesday before
Thanksgiving. We have met
our wonderful person who
takes care of us and our
room, our delightful
lunchtime waiter and our
resident magician who
comes around doing amaz
ing card tricks. America’s
Got Talent watch out.
The next day, Thanks
giving arrives. Before lunch
we begin hearing, over the
intercom, for a certain gen
tleman to report to a certain
place. This announcement
happens every 10 or 15
minutes. By 2 p.m. or so we
begin to get concerned that
they really can’t find this
person on the ship. We
begin getting reports from
other people who have spo
ken to the family of the
missing person. We dis
cover that some man had,
apparently, fallen over
board. We did not know at
that time, that the ship had
made a u-tum to go back to
the place where he was last
seen to assist the Coast
Guard in trying to locate
him. We then, unknow
ingly, made another turn to
get us back on track, we
were eventually four hours
late arriving at our destina
tion. But arrive at our desti
nation we did. This was at
Cozumel, my sister-in-
law’s request. She had al
ways wanted to swim with
the dolphins. That was an
experience.
We got back after this
excursion to the news of the
gentleman’s rescue later
that night. He had beer
missing in the water fo
about 16 hours until he was
rescued alive, the medn
called him the “Thanksgiv
ing Miracle.”
The next day we mack
our way, by ship, to the Yu
catan Peninsula to view the
Mayan Ruins. We got on tc
our tour bus and begar
making our almost twe
hour trip to see the ruins
We had a most amazing
friendly and knowledgeable
guide with which we spen
our time going, during anc
return trip. He was a loca
person who was much in
terested in sharing his cul
ture with us. He made i
come alive with his narra
tive. We all came back witl
a greater understanding o
his culture. Yes, there was <
lot of walking but it was
definitely worth it to set
these majestic temples anc
ancient structures.
We had spent two day:
traveling to Mexico anc
two days returning. Wc
loved every moment. Wc
met the most kind, gener
ous, polite people on the
ship, including the staff,
personally met the sweetes
lady one day at lunch an c
again the next day. I had tc
have a picture made witl
her.
We returned to port
found our car, packed anc
were on our way back earl)
Monday morning.
Because we drove
straight through, we arrivec
home late that night. We al
came back with a greate
