REP
The Pickens Sheriff’s
Office responds to many
calls for service every day.
The following incidents
are a few deputies respond
to each day.
Stolen Items
A man called for a deputy
because several things from
his mother’s home had been
stolen. The man said his
mother lives in an assisted
living facility and his sister
had rented out his mother’s
house. The renters recently
said they no longer needed a
place to live and moved out.
When the man went to check
on the house, he realized sev
eral items were missing, in
cluding a zero-turn
lawnmower, a few toolboxes,
and other items from an out
building.
Dispute over a car
A woman called a deputy
and told him that her soon-to-
be ex-husband was at her
place of work trying to take
her car. The woman said the
car was in his name, but she
made the payments and her
attorney told her it was mari
tal property so she could still
drive it. The soon-to-be ex-
husband agreed to leave the
property. The woman asked
for the soon-to-be ex-hus
band to be criminally tres
passed from her place of
employment.
Abandoned trailer
A homeowner was at
home when he heard a loud
banging noise. He went out
side and saw a utility trailer
that was partially in the road
and in a ditch. He moved the
trailer out of the road and
called a deputy. The deputy
ran the tag on the trailer and
it came back to a man in Hi-
awassee. The deputy tried to
contact the man with no luck.
The utility trailer was im
pounded.
Wanted woman was
arrested
A deputy was on patrol
and he saw a woman in the
passenger seat of a car that he
knew had a warrant. The
deputy pulled the car over
and spoke to the woman, he
ran her information to make
sure her warrant was current.
The warrant was valid and
the woman was arrested.
Report of threats being
made
A woman came to the
sheriff’s office to make a re
port about threats being made
toward her. The woman said
her ex-boyfriend whom she
has children with, threatened
her three years ago with bod
ily harm. The woman said in
May of 2020 her ex-
boyfriend got in her face and
was yelling at her. The ex-
boyfriend said, “If you take
my kids from me, I’ll take
you out to the middle of the
street and smash your face
into the pavement until your
eyeballs pop out of your
head.” She said he was so
close to her she could feel the
spit coming out of his mouth
and hit her face. The woman
wanted to have the incident
documented.
Sugar in the gas tank
A woman called for a
deputy because someone put
sugar in her gas tank. The
woman said her car had been
parked in her carport. The
woman took the car to put
gas in it and when she got to
the gas station she could see
a small mound of sugar
around the gas tank. She
drove the car back home and
called 911. The gas station
was not far from her home,
she said her car was still driv
ing normally.
Dog attacked by two dogs
A woman said she was
walking her dog when two
dogs attacked her dog. The
woman’s dog had three punc
ture wounds on its leg. The
woman thought she knew the
address of the dog’s owner.
The deputy spoke to the
owner of the two dogs. He
said he did not think his dogs
had been out, unless his kids
let his dogs out of the fence
earlier. The deputy attempted
to contact animal control.
Threats made
A woman called to make a
report. The woman said she
has been in an abusive rela
tionship for a few years. The
woman is concerned her ex-
boyfriend will retaliate
against her because she
emailed several people
telling them about their past.
She wanted a report in case
he threatens her or tries to
harm her in some way.
Domestic dispute
A woman called for a
deputy due to an argument
between her and her son. The
woman said she had asked
her son to take his dirty tow
els to the laundry room. The
woman said her son had been
drinking and he got mad and
took the towels off the bath
room floor and threw them in
her direction, she was in the
living room. The two started
arguing and walked into the
kitchen. The woman opened
the refrigerator door and her
son tried to close it while she
was standing in front of it.
The woman called 911. She
asked the deputy to give a
“stem talking to” her son.
The son said the woman had
smacked him in the face the
day before, however, he did
not have any marks or brais
ing on his face. The woman
and the son agreed to stay
away from each other the rest
of the day.
Unwanted visitor
Two men had both been
recently let out of jail. One
man went to the other man’s
home demanding he give him
back a leaf blower. The other
man told the first man to
leave, but he refused to leave.
The first man told the deputy
he wasn’t sure he wanted to
press theft charges over the
leaf blower. The other man
asked to have the first tres
passed from his home. The
deputy told the first man he
was to leave the property.
During this past week, the Pickens Sheriff’s Office

UThe whole team was FANTASTIC.
Very quick, helpful, clear in explaining
what they were doing and the next
steps and with a ready smile and laugh.
They made the entire process
as painless as possible and I would
use them again in a heartbeat.W
