Dos Margaritas Mexican Restaurant
named Business of the Month for August
l«
Dos Margaritas opened in 2005 and
joined the Chamber in 2006.
They are active with our Chamber and in
our community by sponsoring Chamber
events and several non-profits. Amber Ben
itez is currently a Chamber Ambassador and
serves on the Tourism committee.
At Dos Margaritas, they pride themselves
on serving fresh food made from scratch,
they are not a typical Mexican restaurant
serving just tacos and burritos, throughout
the years their menu has evolved and cur
rently one of their most popular dishes is the
salmon.
They know the past couple of years has
been hard on the community with economic
changes and post COVID, they have not in
creased their prices in the last two years be
cause they know that it is important for
families to enjoy an affordable meal out.
Community Bank of Pickens County is
proud to sponsor the Business of the Month
Program with the Pickens County Chamber.

Mt. Education school
recognizes High Honor
Graduate Lacey Smith
Pickens Mountain Educa
tion would like to congratu
late our High Honor
Graduate from the 2022-
2023 school year, Lacey
Michelle Smith.
Lacey achieved a Grade
Point Average of 3.90. She is
a wonderful example of what
hard work and dedication
truly means. She worked
hard not only in the class
room, but she also excelled
in extracurricular activities
such as being on a sports
travel team while achieving
her title of High Honor Grad
uate at Pickens Mountain Ed
ucation.
Mrs. Payne, one of her
math teachers said, “Lacey is
energetic. She worked hard
to understand the content and
not just the correct answer.
Her positivity and smile are
very contagious. I hope she
understands how much I ap
preciate her and her hard
work. Her positive attitude
makes what I do worth every
second.”
Her mentor, Mrs. Mead
ows said, “She is a student
athlete who managed to jug
gle her school work and her
practice schedule at the same
time successfully. She has
been such a joy to work with
and mentor.”
Lacey delivered the High
Honor Graduation Speech at
the 2023 Graduation Cere
mony. In her speech, Lacey
said the following:
“The graduating class of
2023 and I want to thank all
of the staff and administra
tors at Pickens Mountain Ed
ucation that put in so much of
their time and knowledge to
make it possible for all of us
to be here tonight. Without

them, many of our accom
plishments would still be
goals today. We should all
appreciate the support we
have received from all of our
family, friends, and ME. Al
though we did not work with
every single staff member at
Mountain Education, I know
all of the ME staff was dedi
cated to getting us where we
are today. The whole staff at
Mountain Education is amaz
ing. If I did not mention your
name specifically, you have
all helped not only me, but
my fellow classmates obtain
our high school diplomas and
always made Mountain Edu
cation a great environment
for everyone. With this being
said, I encourage upcoming
highschoolers and even cur
rent students in public high
school to look at Mountain
Education as your next
school. With amazing hands-
on focus from the staff, and
the ability to work at your
own pace, along with an ex
tremely flexible schedule,
Mountain Education could
be a great school for you.”

The Backstory
Once upon a time I
worked for someone else.
My boss’s mother walked
in the kitchen and said we
need a dessert on the menu
to honor Gov. Jimmy
Carter running for Presi
dent. The rest is history.
I loved salted peanuts in
a Coca-Cola so I thought
why not salted peanuts in
a pie. A little sweet and a
little salt.
Still a favorite because
it isn’t too sweet. Perfect
compliment to a simple
meal.
Dreaming up this recipe
and deciding I wanted to
be my own boss changed
my life a bit.
Yummy. Really is good.
I am thinking of trying
it with a touch of choco
late. Maybe chocolate cov
ered peanuts and salted
peanuts.
Tune in to The Cherie Show Monday through Thurs
day 11 a.m., 5 p.m. and midnight on ETC TV 3 from Ball
Ground to Turtletown.

Tube Cherie Martin or Cherie Martin Heart of the Home.
