Farmers Market
Report
By Heather Giambra
The Jasper Farmers Market was cool
and quiet and ready for action. Seems the
cooler morning was keeping people home
longer than usual so the market progressed
slower but stirred happily as more cus
tomers arrived. There was more time for
vendors to visit each other, which is a great
way to see what’s available.
Larry Kent of Art By Larry was enjoy
ing the sunny day with his unique bird-
houses and haunted homes with plenty of
skeletons creeping about.
If you look about it’s beginning to look
like fall. Cherry trees have been losing
their leaves while the Dogwood tree leaves
are changing color. And vendors with
decor items displayed fall colors in their
wreaths, table runners, candle holders, and
more.
Now is a great time to start decorating
with leaves and grasses, corn and pump
kins, yellow and orange anything. Come
by the Jasper Farmers Market to get your
fall flavors and decor going. Sourdough
breads, jellies, preserves. The market is lo
cated in the Park N Ride parking lot at Lee
Newton Park. The market opens at 7:30
a.m. every Saturday and goes until noon
and is sponsored by the Pickens County
Master Gardeners.
The MGs held their last tent sale of the
season and wish to thank all the wonderful
customers who stopped by to ask ques
tions and take home some home grown,
tried and true plants for their gardens.
Next Saturday, the 16th, the MGs will
hold their Maintaining Perennials and
Seed Saving Symposium at the Extension
Office at 68 D. B Carroll St, from 1-3
p.m. This is a drop by and learn event.
MGs will be discussing sustainable care of
perennials and seed saving.
