Community wide day of neighbors helping neighbors
at Pickens County non-profits returns October 21
By Jim Brescia
Serve Pickens
Pickens County is well known for the generos
ity of its citizens. So many people give of their
time and money to the many worthwhile charitable
organizations.
But most people have busy schedules. It can be
a challenge just to meet one’s everyday obligations.
What if you could work with hundreds of other
volunteers for approximately six hours just one day
and assist one of 18 non-profit organizations to ful
fill their mission?
What if you could choose the organization for
which you want to volunteer and the type of work
you want to do? Enter Serve Pickens.
Serve Pickens is a one-day community wide
day of neighbors helping neighbors by volunteer
ing at our Pickens County non-profits on October
21, 2023. On this day, community members, spon
sors, churches, civic groups, and businesses will
join together to help the non-profits who serve our
community daily.
At our first Serve Pickens Day in 2022, we had
over 240 volunteers serving at 20 non-profits to
make Pickens County a better place for us all to
live in.
The day will begin with an 8 a.m. kick-off
breakfast and welcome at Jasper United Methodist
Church before everyone travels to their non-profit
to complete the day’s projects. Serve Pickens
promises to be a fun and fulfilling day for everyone
and a huge help for our Pickens non-profits.
To volunteer go to servepickens.com, click on
the Volunteer tab, complete the volunteer form and
choose the project where you would like to serve.
Our sponsors will be recognized in our adver
tising, on social media, and on our t-shirts. To
sponsor the event, go to www.servepickens.com,
click on the Sponsor tab, and complete the form.
Let’s join together to help our neighbors. For
more information, visit our websites.
