Fall veggies & perfect weather at Farmers Market
By Heather Giambra
Thirty days hath Septem
ber.... Oh, boy, that was a
fast month, but beautiful
weather every weekend. Veg
gies can still be had, espe
cially squash. New vendors
have joined the market, as
well. So many good things to
find each and every market
day. You’ll have to wait a
week because the Marble
Fest will take over next
weekend.
Hyde & Zeek, hillbilly

market. Fancy Fruit Sorbet
was first in the middle row.
Red Bean Harvest Coffee
started the creek side row.
Every once in a while our
vendors end up in new spots,
so always take a walk around.
Some of your favorites are in

‘Fall into Quilts’
Exhibit at the
Vann House
Saturday, November 4th,
2023, the Vann House Quil-
ters will be hosting our an
nual Quilting Bee to continue
working on their Dresden
Flower quilt.
Bring the family to see the
quilt exhibit inside the house,
and then join us for pressing
cider apples in the Cherokee
Farmstead. At the Vann
House, (82 Hwy. 225 N„
Chatsworth) we have put
our large collection of hand
made quilts, some vintage,
on display for guests to view
during tours. Right now,
through the end of Novem
ber, guests can admire the
creativity and artistic skill of
women who spent weeks and
months cutting and sewing
these gorgeous quilts to
gether for their loved ones.
We have quilts hand-made
and donated from James
Vann’s very descendants,
quilts with patterns both fa
miliar and complex, woven
fabrics, even an antebellum
quilt that was crafted by an
enslaved person who once
lived in Murray County. To
honor a second historical Au
tumn activity, we’ll be press
ing apples and sampling the
cider in our Cherokee Farm
stead.
Regular hours: Thursday-
Saturday 9-5, Sunday 1-5.
December-March: closed on
Sunday.

To The Editor:
I really enjoyed the spider picture in the Fall and Festival
Guide. Today I was headed over to the recycling center and
saw the setting moon.
I jumped out of the car and lined up this picture. Spiders?
Moon? There are so many things to enjoy in Pickens County.
All we have to do is look around.
