Son of “most

to speak here
October 26
The son of Georgia’s most
prolific multiple murderer
will speak at Pendley Creek
Brewing on Thursday, Octo
ber 26th at 7 p.m.
Stoney Birt, the eldest
child of notorious Dixie
Mafia hitman Billy Sunday
Birt, will be hosted by the
The Pickens Historical Soci
ety.
Despite killing more peo
ple than Jeffrey Dahmer and
Ted Bundy combined, Stoney
has said his father was “a
great father.” Law enforce
ment, however, called him
“the most dangerous man in
Georgia history.”
Billy Sunday Birt is
thought to have killed at least
56 people, though some say
that number is much higher.
For those interested in true
crime, the 13-episode podcast
series In the Red Clay illumi
nates Billy’s crimes in the
1960s and 70s in nearby
Winder and Barrow County.
Billy was a contract killer for
the Dixie Mafia, a criminal
organization. The group's ac
tivities included movement
of stolen merchandise, illegal
alcohol, and illegal drugs.
In the podcast, Stoney said
he knew his father was a
gangster, but he was also a
great father and “the fastest
moonshine driver in north
Georgia.” Stoney said, "As a
family man, father and hus
band, he had no equal."
Birt will have copies of his
book Rock Solid, The True
Story of Georgia’s Dixie
Mafia at the event.

NASCAR had nothing on it.
For the three years it roamed
the highways of the South
eastern United States, the

He committed more rob

he was an informant’s worst

law enforcement official,
Billy Sunday Birt was “The
Deadliest Man in Georgia
History”.
Billy killed himself while
serving a life sentence for in
prison in 2017 after serving
nearly 40 years. He was 79.
