Technology - Part II
When I had the idea of
writing, or trying to write,
my article last week on
technology I discovered
that I had a major problem.
I had used the term tech
nologically disadvantaged
to describe me for a long
time. I actually came to be
lieve that I had coined the
word. I could say the word
but had never put it down
on paper. How to spell it?
By the sound? I tried sev
eral versions but none
looked right. I finally found
a solution. The word techni
cal, then the ending, right?
So that’s the way I turned it
into the paper.
But to get off topic for a
moment, I have said that
my husband quotes the
Bible. I, on the other hand,
quote the Reader’s Digest.
As fate would have it, as I
was reading my latest
Reader’s Digest issue, what
word do you think I found?
That’s right, “technologi
cally possible.” Of course,
they were talking about ar
tificial intelligence. I
thought, “So I wasn’t the
one who invented that
word?” Actually, it looked
like I was ahead of my time.
Well, maybe not, but we
can always look at things
from our own point of view.
In other words, to our own
“advantage.” So does that
mean I turned the phrase
“technologically disadvan
taged” into “technologi
cally advantaged?” Or is
that stretching the point?

My sweet Grandma
Dobbs was an awesome cook
and so was my precious
Granny Gilreath. Their
recipes were very similar and
I used it for many years. One
evening many years ago I
was making banana pudding
and my daughter Angela was
sitting there talking with me.
I told her to layer the ba
nanas and vanilla wafers
while I made the pudding.
She opened the vanilla
wafers and started talking
about precious Miss Audry,
our dear friend and babysitter
for my grandchildren.
She said sweet Audry had
opened a can of condensed
milk and they had a great
time dipping the vanilla
wafers in it and eating that.
Angela's face lit up and
she said nothing is any better
than liquid gold condensed
milk. The pudding was al
most ready and as I contin
ued to stir I thought about
how yummy condensed milk
really is so I told Ang to open
a can and let's put it in the
pudding.
Oh my goodness this was
the best pudding in the world.
Granny and Grandma had a
great recipe but with the little
kick of condensed milk what
was really good became re
ally amazing.
Don't forget to make this
on a day when the humidity
is perfect and use your egg
whites, cream of tartar and
sugar for the meringue.
Super simple but very impor
tant to beat fast. Brown in
oven and serve warm. Now
this is what we mean when
we say company is coming
and we want them to leave
happy.
So thankful for the
granny's of the world who
taught us so much and loved
us unconditionally.
