Gyme Warbrick Gyme Warbrick, beloved husband, father of 5, uncle, and grandad of 5 passed away at the age of 85 on January 7, 2021. Gyme was born in Paradise, Mon- tana on January 29, 1935. He was an accomplished athlete having been the captain of both his football and track teams. Gyme was an Air Force veteran and patriot who had a keen interest in politics, something he developed at a young age while participating in the American Legion’s Boys State pro gram. He loved playing cards and raised a few eye brows teaching his grammar school-aged grandchil dren how to play poker. Gyme’s son, Perry, credits his father for his own confidence. “He was never afraid to take risks and try new things.” He owned and oper ated a variety of businesses over his lifetime - nursing homes and restaurants to name a few. Gyme and his wife, Meri, dreamed of restoring historical homes and in 1982, they had the opportunity to restore their first in Barnesville, Georgia. Over the next decade and beyond, Gyme restored many of the historical homes on Barnesville’s Thomaston Street. When asked what he was most proud of, he said it was rescuing the antebellum Bailey House in downtown Jackson which he relocated and reassembled in Cumming. As he aged, Gyme never slowed down and was always excited to report the number of steps he had taken at the end of each day, often as many as 20,000. He had a strong stubborn streak, something his daughter Ter ry lovingly believes she inherited from him. Gyme’s family and friends all treasured his creative vision and ability. His daughter Connie credits him for her own artistic eye and seeing the potential in discarded things, tucking them away until it’s their time to be the perfect piece needed to complete a new proj ect. “He fixed everything 1 had that was broken,” his daughter Cathy remembers. “Even if 1 had a broken heart, he would try to fix that too.” In the end, Gyme’s giant, generous heart stopped beating, but the love he gave his friends and family gives them comfort in their fond memories. Written with love by his adoring daughter, Laurie. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made to Smile Train, PO Box 96231 Washington, D.C. 20090-6231 or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
