LC soccer goes 1-3 for the week The LC varsity soccer teams won only one of four matches played last week. The Lady Trojans (3-3) opened the week Feb. 23 with a 2-1 loss at Jack- son. Cara Bishop record ed LC’s lone goal on a 25-yard free kick On Feb. 26, the Lady Trojans trav-' eled to Eastman to take on Dodge County and came away with a 6-0 win. Bishop, Vanessia Byrd, Alaina Cato, Kaylah Grammer, Samiya Smith and Brittiany Arreola had one goal each for LC. The Trojans dropped both road games last week. Jackson prevailed over LC 4-2. Daniel Navarro and Josh More each had goals for the Trojans. In Eastman, LC lost a 1-0 heartbreaker to the Indians. The varsity teams have two home games this week as Jasper County comes in today and Washington County is here Friday. Junior Varsity: The Lady Trojans JV won its lone game of the week, topping Locust Grove 10-0 Feb. 25. Maci-Lauren Lanier and De- shunna Bowles each had two goals for LC. Kaylee Hamrick, Ally Bloxham, Savannah Taylor, Paige Mayfield, Aniya Barron and Vanes sia Byrd each had single goals for Lamar. LCMS: The middle school teams got back in action Monday after a COV1D hiatus when they trav eled to Jackson to face Henderson. They go to ACE in Macon Wednes day. Elect Brutz ENGLISH CHIEF MAGISTRATE Hattermann captures career win No. 500 I Gordon State College softball head coach Ally Hattermann reached another milestone in her coaching career as the Highlanders won the second game of a doubleheader over Wesleyan College (Ga.) to secure Hattermann’s 500th career win. Diamond Trojans drop two games The LC Diamond Tro jans dropped two games played last week. LC is now 1-3 for the young season. On Feb. 22, Lamar fell 9-8 to Stratford Academy at Aldora Field in a matchup they led 7-4 after three innings. Tan ner Patterson took the loss for LC. He struck out four but his defense committed five errors behind him. Nathaniel Tidwell led LC with three hits and four RBIs. On Feb. 24, the Diamond Trojans fell 9-1 to Putnam % I c County on the road. Pat terson had two hits and drove in the lone LC run. Ayden Hollis also had two hits. LC played at ACE in Ma con Monday and hosts Crawford County here Thursday. Lady Trojans fall in round one The LC Lady Trojans were eliminated in the first round of the GHSA Class AA basket ball tournament Feb. 23 when they blew leads of 10 and eight points in a 51-48 loss to the Swainsboro Tigers. LC finished the season at 17-6. Lamar led 15-7 after one period and 25-22 at the half. The third period came to a close with the two teams tied at 38. Tamya Blasin- game led LC with 16 points while Shakiria Foster had 15. Other scorers were Zaria Fletcher (8), Journi Harris (4), Zakiria Foster (3) and Janiyah Akins (2).
