Key issues in focus at the Summit include the banking sector’s ongoing role in support ing the economic recovery, financial inclusion, and the need to maintain a level playing field be tween banks and non banks that offer financial services. “The tremendous inter est in this year’s Wash ington Summit shows how engaged our mem bers are in the important issues facing our country and our industry,” said ABA Chair Jim Edwards, CEO of United Bank based in Zebulon and Barnesville. “This is a great opportunity for us to find policy areas where we can work together with Congress and the administration to defeat this pandemic and grow the economy to the benefit of our customers and the communities we serve.” EDWARDS New CASA volunteers sworn in Towaliga CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) recently an nounced that on March 3, 2021, three CASA volunteers were sworn-in for the circuit by Judge Sullivan to serve children in foster care. Feila Stone is a Monroe County resident, and Marcie Seleb and Nicole Tillery are both Lamar County residents. “CASA volunteers have gone through extensive training by the local CASA agency to ensure that they can fulfill the requirement of a CASA for the children of this circuit. Volun teers come from varying backgrounds, but the one thing they have in common is their con cern for children in the foster care system,” said Towaliga CASA volun teer supervisor Georgia Hooks.
