LCMS soccer rolls
to four division wins
The LCMS soccer
teams rolled to four
MGMSAL wins last week.
Both teams are 5-1 with
their only losses coming
on the road
at Henderson
earlier in the
season.
On March 8,
LCMS hosted
Ft. Valley at
the LC soccer
complex. In
the opener, the
Lady Trojans
recorded a 6-1 win. Jenny
Beverly and Ava Bushby
had two goals each for
LC while Makaiya How
ard and Giada Ritch each
added single goals.
In game two, the Tro
jans took a narrow, 2-1
win. Kaden Carter and
Caleb Miller had goals
for LC while Axel Garcia
and Tanner Garvin added
assists.
On March 10, the
locals traveled to Byron.
In the first game, the
Lady Trojans won 6-0.
Bushby and Ritch each
had two goals
and two as
sists. M’Kenzie
Smith had a
goal and two
assists while
Ava Lonberg
added a single
goal.
In game two,
the Trojans
prevailed 5-1. Miller and
Carter had two goals
each while Jordan Mc
Intosh had one. Carter
also had two assists
while Hayden Cherry and
Garrison Selph had one
each.
The teams played at
Upson-Lee Monday night
and host Jones County
Wednesday. First touch is
set for 5 p.m.
Diamond Trojans
take three losses
The LC Diamond
Trojans (1-8) took three
losses last week, two of
them being region con
tests.
On Monday,
ACE topped LC
10-5 at Aldora
Park. The Gry
phons blew
it open in the
fourth, scoring
six runs. The
Trojans outhit
ACE 8-6 but com
mitted four errors. Na
thaniel Tidwell had three
hits for LC while Rhett
Blount drove in a run.
On Tuesday, the Tro
jans went to Washington
County and got blown
out 14-0. The locals man
aged only two hits and
had three errors.
On Friday, Washington
County came to Aldora
Park and the Trojans
built a 6-1 lead after three
innings, led 9-2
after five and
11-5 after six
but WACO got
eight runs in
the top of the
seventh to take
a 13-11 win.
Each team
had 11 hits.
WACO had
seven errors to only two
for LC.
Blount drove in three
runs to pace the Trojan
attack
The Trojans host SW
Macon today, travel to
Taylor County Wednes
day and to SW Macon
Friday.

The LC varsity soccer teams traveled to Cochran Friday
night and brought home two wins. The girls won 7-3 while the
boys prevailed 3-1

night on the road in Co
chran. The Trojans won
the second
match of the
night for an
LC sweep.
The girls
match was
tied 2-2 at
the half but
LC outscored
the Royals
5-1 in the
second half to take a
7-3 win. Freshmen Cara
Bishop and Samiya Smith
each had two goals and
one assist to pace LC.
Vanessia Byrd had one
goal and three assists.
Adding single goals
were Alaina Cato and
Maci-Lauren Lanier.
Deshunna Bowles added
an assist for Lamar.Paige
Mayfield had four saves
in the net for LC.
“The Bleckley crowd
got loud and rowdy
cheering on their team.
It was the perfect atmo
sphere for a big region
game. It was 3-3 with 15
minutes left and it felt
like we caught
our second
wind. 1 felt
like some of
our freshmen
grew up Friday
night. This
is by far the
best Bleckley
County team
1 have ever
seen,” Trojan coach
Wayne Calvert said.
In the nightcap, the
Trojans (34-1, 2-1)
brought home a 3-1 win.
JT Moore had two goals
while Josh Moore had
one. Mikey Hernadez and
Matthew Ctibor each had
assists.
Lamar hosts Dodge
County Friday at the LC
soccer complex.
Peek named DOT
district engineer
Tyler Peek of Barnesville has been
named district engineer for District 3
DOT. He replaces Michael Presley who
retired March 1.
Peek is a registered professional en
gineer and holds a degree in civil engi
neering from Georgia Tech. A veteran of
the DOT, Peek previously worked as the
district’s traffic engineer, traffic operations manager
and multiple other posts.
YFW to hold elections
The Barnesville VFW Post 6542 will hold elections
on Monday, April 5, 2021. Auxiliary elections will be
held at 6 p.m. and the Post elections will be held at 7
p.m. All members are encouraged to participate. For
