Nancy Broadaway
Mrs. Nancy Faye Torbert Broadaway, age 74, of
Barnesville, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, March
13, 2021 at her residence.
Mrs. Broadaway, a native of Barnesville, was born
on Saturday, November 23, 1946. She was the daugh
ter of the late Homer H. Torbert and the late Julie
Renee Williams Torbert. Nancy is also preceded in
death by her husband, Grady Broadaway; brothers,
Jerry Torbert & Terry Torbert. She was a dedicated
employee to Goggans Florist and a faithful member
of the First Baptist Church of Barnesville. Nancy was
extremely devoted to her family and friends.
Nancy is survived by her sister, Judy Torbert
Walker; nephew and his wife, John and Karen Walker;
niece and her husband, Meredith and Chris Chase;
great nephew, Gabe Chase; great niece, Claire Chase;
first cousins, Dorothy Patrick, Lurlene Jones; sec
ond cousins, Thomas Torbert, Johnny Torbert, Rick
Williams, Cristy Caldwell and her extended family at
Goggans Florist.
A funeral service for Mrs. Nancy Broadaway was
held on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at
the First Baptist Church of Barnesville with Rever
end Garth Forster officiating. Interment followed in
Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on
Tuesday, March 16, 2021 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at
the funeral home.

Leanne Hager
Ms. Leanne Hager, age 59, of Barnesville, passed
away Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Upson Regional
Medical Center.
Leanne was born in Tallahassee, Florida on
Wednesday, December 6, 1961 to the late Ralph
Sidney Hager and the late Jeanette Folsom Hager.
She was also preceded in death by her beloved dog,
Gypsy. Leanne worked at New leaf Greenhouse as a
greenhouse keeper. She enjoyed going to the beach
and looking up at the stars. Leanne loved animals.
Leanne is survived by her brother and sister-in-
law, Bradley & Michelle Hager; children and son-
in-law, Jennifer Weaver Aldridge, Michelle Weaver,
Norman Weaver, Sarah & Justin Smith; grandchildren,
Kaylie Aldridge, Savannah Aldridge, Dylan Coffman,
Sarah Coffman, Flint Smith, Mason Smith; nephew,
Ethan Hager.
A funeral service for Leanne Hager was held on
Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of
Williams-Westbury Funeral Home with Pastor Mi
chael Birdsong officiating. Friends visited the family
from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral
home.

Mary West
Mrs. Mary Ellen West age 76 of Barnesville Ga.,
passed away Friday, March 19, 2021 at her residence.
Mrs. West was born on August 14, 1944 in Mon
roe, La., to the late Sam Vicari and the late Delia
Hunter Vicari. She was formerly
employed with Lamar County Se
nior Center where she worked as
the director until her retirement.
Mrs. West was a member of Rock
Springs Church. In addition to
her parents she is preceded in
death by her husband John C.
West and sister Myra Young.
Survivors include her sons,
Robert (Linda) Waterman of
Barnesville, Ga., George (Julie)
Waterman of Dexter, Ga., Sam (Lexandria) Waterman
of Barnesville Ga.; step son, Jonathan West; step
daughter, Mitzi West O’Hearn; sisters, Annie (Charlie)
Corona of Belle Chase, La., Karen Boone of Boutte,
La.; 12 grandchildren; five great grandchildren and
step grandchild Kindyl West.

Springs Church Thrive Senior Adult Ministry at 219
Rock Springs Rd. Milner, Ga. 30257.
Graveside memorial services were held on Mon
day, March 22, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in Greenwood Cem
etery in Barnesville.

Escapee sentenced

June 23, 2020 in Coffee
County when he drove
up to a residence where
deputies were question
ing his father. Mario
Alberto Veloz, 47, was
charged with aiding an
escape. His case was con
tinued last week due to
the lack of an interpreter.
Judge Arch McGarity
sentenced Veloz in the
absence of Judge Bill
Fears who was ill.
At the time of the
escape, Veloz was in jail
on charges of theft by
receiving stolen prop
erty, possession of a
firearm by a first offender
probationer and obstruc
tion. He was sentenced
on that count as well.

cardiology. Dr. Mohamad

invasive procedures to
treat heart and vascular
disease.
Dr. Mohamad earned
his medical degree at the
University of Khartoum
in Khartoum, Sudan. He
completed his cardiology
fellowship at the Medi
cal College of Georgia
in Augusta, GA and his
interventional cardiology
fellowship at Tulane Uni
versity in New Orleans,
LA.
Dr. Mohamad is
