Controlling the midfield Trojan midfielder Mason Bushby (5) tracks a Dodge County player during Lamar’s 3-0 victory Friday night at the LC soccer complex. The win moved LC’s record to 4-4-1 overall and 3-1 in region play. LCMS soccer gets a win and a tie The LCMS soc cer teams traveled to Upson-Lee for their only matches last week and came away with a win and a tie. In the opener, the Lady Trojans tied the Lady Knights 1-1. U-L scored early on a PK after a questionable foul in the box. Giada Ritch got the tying goal for LC. In the second match, the Trojans rolled to a 6-2 win. Star striker Ca leb Miller had five goals for LC while Kaden Carter added one. Carter, and Tanner Garvin had two assists each while Miller added one. The top four teams in the division will go to the playoffs next month. The Trojans currently lead the division at 6-1. The Lady Trojans are in second place at 5-1-1. The middle school teams have three games scheduled this week. They played at Mon roe County Monday and host Henderson of Jackson Wednesday. Diamond Trojans notch three victories The LC Diamond Trojans won three of four games last week to up their record to 4-9 for the season. On Tuesday, LC hosted SW Macon and rolled to a 12-2 win in a game shortened by mercy rule after four and a half in nings. Jake Hutto started for LC and went three innings striking out five. Connor Vaughn relieved Hutto and got the save. He struck out four. LC got 11 hits and committed only one error. Vaughn drove in four runs for coach Mike Oberg’s squad while Johnny Stone, Nathaniel Tidwell and Tanner Pat terson had two hits each. On St. Patrick’s Day, LC traveled to Taylor County and brought home a 7-3 victory. Caden Dewitt got the win for LC with Rhett Blount working in relief. Combined they allowed only four hits. Dewitt had four strikeouts. On Friday, the Dia mond Trojans traveled to SW Macon and again got a mercy rule win 11-0. Tanner Patterson went the distance on the hill for the win. He allowed only four hits and had nine strikeouts. Talon Dender had two hits and drove in a run for LC. Tidwell and Patterson each had hits. Tidwell drove in two runs while Bayle English added an RBI. On Saturday, Lamar traveled to Heard County for a non-region game and took its only loss of the week 10-2. The Trojans committed seven errors. Dewitt and Dona- van Sanford pitched for LC. Blount and Tidwell had two hits each for the locals. The Diamond Trojans play at Bleckley County today and host the Roy als Friday at Aldora Field. Ansley Potter makes All-Star team Ansley Potter of the St. George’s Dragons has been selected to play in the GISA All-Star game. Potter was a four-year starter for the Drag ons and team captain for her junior and senior years. She also on the all-state team, averaging nearly 12 point per game her last two seasons. Potter is pictured with her coach Britt Gaylor. LC soccer routs Dodge County The LC varsity soc cer teams hosted Dodge County Friday night and rolled to back-to-back wins over the visiting Indians. A non-region game earlier in the week against Pike County was canceled due to a COVID-related shortage of referees. In the opener, the Lady Trojans prevailed 5-0. Cara Bishop led La mar with two goals while Vanessia Byrd, Maci-Lau- ren Lanier and Madison Smith each added one goal. Byrd, Lanier and Smith each had assists for LC. In the nightcap, the Trojans got a hat trick from Justin Brannan on their way to a 3-0 win. Josh Moore, Chip Craw ford and Joe Davies had assists for LC.
